Beyond Photos: How Voice Messages, Drawings & Upload Page Customization Are Changing Event Memories

A photo captures a moment. But what about the sound of your best friend's laugh as they toast you at your wedding? The doodle your five-year-old niece drew on a napkin? The heartfelt note from a colleague who couldn't make it to the stage?

Events are multisensory — and the way guests capture memories should be too. That's why Fotify now goes beyond photo sharing with three new content types (voice messages, text messages, and digital drawings) plus full upload page customization. Here's what's new, why it matters, and how real events are already using it.

What's New

When guests scan your event's QR code, they no longer see just a photo upload button. Depending on what you've enabled, they'll find tabs for:

  • Photos & Videos — The classic upload experience, now with a customizable look
  • Voice Messages — Record up to 60 seconds of audio directly in the browser
  • Text Messages — Write a note, wish, or story
  • Drawings — Sketch on a digital canvas with colors, brushes, and undo

No app download required. Everything works in the guest's mobile browser, just like photo uploads always have.

Voice Messages: The Audio Guestbook, Built In

Traditional guestbooks sit on a table and collect polite signatures. Audio guestbooks — where guests record personal messages — have become one of the hottest wedding trends, but they usually require renting a dedicated device or buying a separate service.

With Fotify, the audio guestbook is built right into the upload page. Guests tap the microphone tab, hit record, and speak. Their message is saved alongside the event's photos and can even play on the live carousel during the event.

Use Cases for Voice Messages

Weddings: Guests leave personal congratulations, stories about the couple, or singing snippets after a few champagnes. These recordings become some of the most treasured keepsakes — far more personal than a signed card.

Corporate events: Attendees record quick testimonials, session feedback, or shout-outs to team members. Product launches can collect live reactions in customers' own voices.

Birthday parties: Friends and family record birthday wishes. Play them back on the live photo carousel during the party for laughs and tears.

Farewell parties: Colleagues leave goodbye messages for someone moving on. Compile them into a lasting memento the honoree can replay anytime.

Text Messages: A Digital Guestbook That Actually Gets Used

Paper guestbooks often end up with rushed signatures and generic "Best wishes!" entries. A digital text message wall removes the friction — guests type a quick note right from their phone while the moment is fresh.

Use Cases for Text Messages

Weddings: Guests write personal advice, share favorite memories of the couple, or simply add context to the photos they just uploaded. These messages show up on the live carousel alongside photos.

Conferences: Collect audience questions, session feedback, or networking notes. Because it's tied to the event's upload page, there's no extra link to share.

Milestone celebrations: Anniversary parties, retirement events, and graduations — guests who have something to say but didn't bring a card can leave a written message in seconds.

Remote guests: People who couldn't attend in person can still send messages via the upload link shared in advance.

Digital Drawings: Fun, Unexpected, and Perfect for Kids

The drawing canvas is a built-in sketch tool where guests create digital art using their finger or a stylus. It includes multiple brush colors, adjustable size, eraser, undo/redo, and a clear button. Finished drawings are saved as images and appear in the album and on the live carousel just like photos.

Use Cases for Drawings

Weddings & parties with kids: Give children something creative to do that actually contributes to the event. Their doodles become part of the gallery alongside the grown-ups' photos — and they're often the most charming entries.

Team building events: Have teams sketch their mascot, draw a colleague, or illustrate a prompt. Project the results on the live carousel for group laughs.

Art-themed events: Gallery openings, creative workshops, or art classes can use the drawing feature for collaborative canvases.

Baby showers & gender reveals: Guests draw their prediction for what the baby will look like, sketch a wish, or create a tiny artwork for the nursery wall.

Upload Page Customization: Your Brand, Their First Impression

The upload page is the first thing guests see when they scan your QR code. Now you can make it look like your event — not a generic tech tool.

What You Can Customize

Templates: Choose from a curated gallery organized by event type — wedding, party, corporate, elegant, minimal, or fun. Each template sets a cohesive look that you can further tweak.

Colors: Adjust six color settings — background, surface, text, accent, button background, and button text. Match your wedding palette, corporate brand, or party theme.

Typography: Pick heading and body fonts from a curated Google Fonts list. Pair a serif heading with a clean sans-serif body, or go all-modern with geometric typefaces.

Layout options: Choose header style (default, hero, minimal, centered), button shape (rounded, pill, square), upload area style, and background pattern (none, dots, grid, diagonal).

Custom success message: After guests upload, show a personalized thank-you (up to 500 characters). Mention where the photos will be displayed, thank them by name concept, or add a fun CTA to upload more.

Upload page customization is available on all plans, including Free.

Use Cases for Upload Page Design

Branded corporate events: Match upload page colors to your company's brand guidelines. Use your corporate font. The upload experience feels like part of the event, not a third-party tool.

Themed weddings: A rustic wedding can use warm tones, serif fonts, and a minimal layout. A modern city wedding can go clean and geometric with bold accent colors.

Multi-day festivals: Each day can have its own upload page design while sharing the same event gallery. Change the template between Day 1 and Day 2 for a fresh look.

Professional photographers: When using Fotify alongside professional coverage, customize the upload page to match the photography studio's brand, creating a seamless client experience.

How It All Works Together on the Live Carousel

One of the most powerful combinations is enabling all content types and projecting the live carousel at your event. Here's what guests see on the big screen:

  1. Photos cycle through with smooth transitions and optional Ken Burns effect
  2. Voice messages play through the venue speakers while a compact card shows the guest's name
  3. Text messages appear as on-screen quotes
  4. Drawings display as full images, just like photos

You control which types appear via carousel settings — for example, show photos and drawings but skip voice messages if you don't have speakers. It's fully configurable in real time.

The Bigger Picture

Events are about connection. Photos capture the visual, but voice captures emotion, text captures thought, and drawings capture playfulness. By giving guests multiple ways to contribute, you end up with a richer, more personal memory collection — one that goes beyond just images.

And by customizing the upload page to match your event's look, you make the guest experience feel intentional and on-brand from the first scan.
