How to Extend the Photo/Video Upload Window
Every Fotify event has an upload window - the period during which guests can upload photos and videos. Once this window closes, guests can no longer add new content to your album.
If you need more time for guests to upload their memories, you can purchase an extension to keep uploads open longer.
Understanding the Upload Window
What is the Upload Window?
The upload window determines how long guests can submit photos and videos to your event. After your event date, the upload window typically remains open for a set period based on your plan:
- Free Plan: Limited upload period
- Photo Gallery Plan: Extended upload period
- Premium Event Plan: Longest upload period
When Does it Close?
Your upload window closing date is shown in your event dashboard. After this date:
- Guests can no longer upload new photos or videos
- Existing uploads remain viewable and downloadable
- The album stays accessible according to your gallery access period
Step 1: Find the Extend Upload Window Card
- Go to your event dashboard at dashboard.fotify.app
- Select your event
- Look for the "Extend Upload Window" card
This card shows:
- Your current upload closing date
- How many months you've already extended (if any)
- Options to purchase additional time
Step 2: Purchase an Extension
Select How Long
Use the + and - buttons to choose how many months to add:
- Minimum: 1 month
- Maximum: 12 months
As you adjust, you'll see:
- The price per month
- The total cost
- A preview of your new closing date
Complete the Purchase
- Select the number of months you want
- Click "Extend" with the total price shown
- Complete payment via Stripe
- Your upload window is extended immediately
After Purchasing
Once your purchase is complete:
- Instant activation - The extension applies immediately
- New closing date - Your upload window now closes on the extended date
- Badge displayed - The card shows how many months you've extended
- Stackable - You can purchase additional extensions anytime
Example
If your uploads were set to close on March 1st and you purchase 2 months:
- New closing date: May 1st
- Guests can continue uploading until the new date
When to Extend Your Upload Window
Consider extending your upload window if:
- Professional photos pending - Your photographer hasn't delivered images yet
- Guests still sharing - People are still finding and sharing photos from the event
- Multi-day events - Events spanning several days need more upload time
- International guests - Guests traveling may upload photos after returning home
- Album not complete - You haven't collected all the memories you want
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What happens when the upload window closes? A: Guests can no longer upload new photos or videos. However, all existing content remains accessible - you and your guests can still view and download photos according to your gallery access settings.
Q: How is this different from gallery access? A: The upload window controls when guests can add content. Gallery access controls how long everyone can view content. These are separate settings.
Q: Is there a limit to how much I can extend? A: You can extend up to 12 months at a time, but you can make multiple purchases. There's no maximum total extension.
Q: Does extending the upload window cost per event? A: Yes, extensions are purchased per event. Each event has its own upload window.
Q: Will guests be notified when I extend the window? A: No automatic notification is sent. If you want guests to know uploads are still open, share your event's QR code or upload link again.
Q: Can I get a refund if I extended by mistake? A: Contact Fotify support for refund requests. Each case is reviewed individually.
Q: Does the extension add to my current date or start fresh? A: The extension adds to your current closing date. So if uploads close April 1st and you add 2 months, the new date is June 1st.
