Films: Your Guests Can Now Share Videos Up to 5 Minutes Long

Some of the best moments at an event don't fit in a 30-second clip. The best man's speech runs four minutes. The first dance, the graduation walk, the surprise serenade by the groom's friends: these are the recordings people actually rewatch years later, and until now they lived and died in your guests' camera rolls.

That changes today. Fotify events on the Premium Event plan now collect Films: guest videos of up to 5 minutes each, up to 50 per event.

Nothing new to explain to your guests

This was our line in the sand: grandma should not need a tutorial. So Films work exactly like every other upload on Fotify.

Guests scan your QR code, pick the video from their gallery, optionally add their name and a message, and tap upload. That's it. Fotify detects that the file is a long video and routes it automatically. There is no separate button, no "choose your upload type" screen, and photos selected in the same batch upload in parallel, so a big video never holds anything back.

While the video uploads, guests see its own progress bar with a small "Long video" badge. After it finishes, the video spends a couple of minutes processing while we prepare it to play smoothly on every phone, browser, and laptop. Guests can close the page during processing; nothing is lost.

If you're already using Fotify to collect wedding photos from guests, the upload page your guests know simply gained a new superpower.

A dedicated Films section in your gallery

Long videos get their own Films section in your event album, right below the photo grid: thumbnails, durations, and tap-to-play in full screen.

We deliberately keep Films out of the live carousel. The carousel is built for a fast rotation of fresh photos and short clips on the big screen, and a 5-minute video would freeze it. Short videos (up to 30 seconds) continue to rotate through the carousel exactly as before; Films wait in the album, where guests can watch them at their own pace during and after the event.

Every film keeps its author and message, just like photos. And if you use photo moderation, Films respect it: new videos wait in your dashboard with a "Pending review" badge until you approve them, and you can play or delete any film from your private album at any time.

Yours to keep, in one click

Films are included in Download All: they land in the same ZIP as your photos, as standard MP4 files that play anywhere. No exports, no transcoding tools, no chasing guests for "that video you took of the speech".

For weddings this quietly solves a real problem. Hiring a videographer for the full day is wonderful and expensive; many couples skip it and regret having no footage of the toasts. Films give you a middle path: every guest is holding a camera anyway, and now their best five minutes flow into the same gallery as your photos. (If you're weighing options, our guide to alternatives to a wedding photographer pairs well with this.)

What people are using it for

Weddings. Speeches and toasts, the first dance from five different angles, video messages from guests who couldn't attend. Combined with photo collection on a wedding photo sharing app, the couple wakes up to a complete record of the day, shot by everyone they love.

Graduations and milestone birthdays. The walk across the stage, the roast, the happy-birthday chorus that goes off the rails in the best way.

Corporate events and conferences. Award acceptance moments, demo-booth walkthroughs, attendee shout-outs for the highlight reel.

Performances and recitals. Each family records their kid's piece; the organizer ends the night with every performance in one album.
