How to Customize Your Upload Page Design

When guests scan your QR code, the first thing they see is your upload page. With Fotify's Upload Page Design feature, you can customize its look to match your event's style — choose from ready-made templates, adjust colors and fonts, pick a page layout and photo shape, and personalize the text guests see throughout the upload experience.

This feature is available on all plans, including the Free plan.

Step 1: Open the Upload Page Designer

Go to your Dashboard and select your event
Click Photos in the sidebar
In the Actions section, under Collect photos, click Page Design
You'll land on the Upload page tab of the design editor, with a live preview. The Public album tab next to it styles your public album

You can also get there from the QR code window: its What guests see card shows a small preview of your upload page, with a Style guest page button (or Edit design once you've picked a style).

Quick Start: Pick a Style When You Create Your Event

Right after you create an event, Fotify asks "How should your guest page look?" and shows a handful of styles for weddings, parties and work events, with a live preview using your event's name and photo.

Tap a style and click Use this style to apply it straight away
Click More styles & colors to open the full designer described below
Click Skip for now to keep the default page — you can style it anytime

The picker doesn't appear during the guided tour, or when you duplicate an event that already has a style.

Step 2: Choose a Template

The template gallery gives you a selection of pre-designed upload page styles organized by category:

All — Browse every available template
Wedding — Elegant and romantic designs
Party — Fun and vibrant styles
Corporate — Clean and professional layouts
Elegant — Sophisticated and refined designs
Minimal — Simple, distraction-free styles
Fun — Playful and colorful options

Click any template to apply it instantly. The live preview on the right updates in real time so you can see how it looks before saving.

Pick a Style

Under the templates, the Style section restyles the page in one click while keeping its colors: fonts, page layout, photo shape, button and upload area style, and background pattern all change together.

Modern - Clean sans-serif type and rounded cards
Editorial - A magazine serif, square corners and no card around the content
Polaroid - A handwritten title, the event photo as an instant print and a dotted background
Film - Bold type, the event photo full-width at the top (when your event has one) and a grid background
Soft - An airy serif, pill buttons, an arched event photo and a wave pattern
Bold - Chunky type, thick outlines and hard shadows, with confetti in the background

Each style card shows your page in its current colors, so you can combine any template with any style. The same styles are available for the public album. Picking a style replaces any font, layout or pattern changes you made by hand; your colors stay. You can still fine-tune everything afterwards in the customization panel.

Step 3: Customize Colors

After selecting a template, you can fine-tune six color settings:

Button Text	The text color on buttons

Click any color swatch to open the color picker, or type in an exact hex code. Changes appear immediately in the preview.

Step 4: Customize Typography

Choose fonts to match your event's personality:

Heading Font — Used for the event title and section headers
Body Font — Used for descriptions, labels, and instructions

Both use Google Fonts, so guests will see the same fonts on any device. Pick from a curated list of options that pair well together.

Step 5: Adjust Layout Options

Fine-tune the structure and style of the page:

Page Layout

Choose the overall structure of the upload page:

Classic card — The centered card layout with the event photo in a framed box (the default)
Hero photo — Your event photo fills the top of the page edge-to-edge, with the event name overlaid on it
Minimal (no card) — Removes the card frame so the content floats directly on the background

The Hero layout needs an event photo to work — if your event doesn't have one, the page automatically falls back to the Classic layout.

Photo Shape

For Classic and Minimal layouts, choose how the event photo is framed:

Rounded — A rounded rectangle (the default)
Arch — An arched window shape, popular for weddings
Circle — A circular frame
Polaroid — A white instant-photo frame with a slight tilt

This setting doesn't apply to the Hero layout, where the photo is shown full-width.

Header Style

Choose how the event title and branding area looks:

Default — Standard header with event name
Hero — Large, bold header area
Minimal — Compact, understated header
Centered — Everything centered for a balanced look

Button Style

Pick the shape of interactive buttons:

Rounded — Slightly rounded corners
Pill — Fully rounded ends
Square — Sharp corners for a modern edge

Upload Area Style

Control how the photo drop zone appears:

Default — Standard dashed border area
Bordered — Solid border with clear boundaries
Gradient — Subtle gradient background
Minimal — Nearly invisible, clean look

Background Pattern

Add subtle texture to the page background:

None — Plain solid color
Dots — Dotted pattern overlay
Grid — Grid line pattern
Diagonal — Diagonal stripe pattern
Waves — Soft scalloped wave pattern
Confetti — Scattered dots in your accent color, great for parties

Patterns automatically adapt to your template's colors, and some templates also feature gradient backgrounds.

Event Photo

Choose how your event photo is displayed at the top of the upload page:

Crop to fill — The photo fills the whole area and is cropped to fit (the default).
Fit whole photo — The entire photo is shown without cropping; any extra space around it uses the page background.
Fit with blurred background — The entire photo is shown over a softly blurred copy of itself, so nothing is cropped and there are no empty edges.

This setting only affects events that have an event photo set.

Adding, replacing or removing the event photo. The upload page has no photo of its own: it shows your event photo, which is also your event's cover photo. You can change it right in the design editor: the Event photo card on the Upload page tab shows the current photo with Add photo, Change photo and Remove photo. Changes are saved immediately and the live preview updates. You can also do it from the Events page: click Edit on the event and use Event Photo (Change Photo or Remove Photo), then save. Editing is available while the event is upcoming, live or paused.

Because it is the event's cover, the same photo also appears on the guest social feed and Match pages, and in the link preview when your upload link is shared, so changing or removing it changes it there too. Deleting your invitation's hero image or the public album's header photo does not remove it: those are separate images.

Hiding the photo on the upload page only. Once you have picked a template, untick Show the event photo on the upload page in the Event photo card. The photo disappears from the upload page but stays your event's cover everywhere else.

Formats: JPEG, PNG, HEIC/HEIF, AVIF or WebP
Size: any shape works. Fotify resizes the photo to 1920 pixels on its longest side, so a photo at least that large looks sharp on every screen
Cropping: there is no crop tool. With Crop to fill the edges of a photo whose shape doesn't match the frame are cut off, so if faces sit near the edges, pick Fit whole photo or Fit with blurred background above

Step 6: Customize Text & Messages

You can personalize three text fields that guests see during the upload experience:

Custom Page Description

This is the text displayed below the event name on the upload page. By default, guests see "Share your photo with a message!" — but you can replace it with your own text (up to 200 characters).

Use this to:

Explain what the photos are for (e.g., "Upload your best moments from tonight's gala!")
Add context or instructions for guests
Include a URL — any link you type is automatically converted to a clickable link on the page

Custom Success Title

This is the heading guests see after they successfully upload their photos. By default it reads "Thank you for sharing!" — but you can set your own title (up to 100 characters).

Use this to:

Match the tone of your event (e.g., "You're amazing!" or "Photo received!")
Add a personal touch to the confirmation screen

Custom Success Message

This is the longer message shown below the success title on the confirmation screen. You can write up to 500 characters to:

Thank guests for contributing
Share where and when the photos will be displayed
Include a fun or personal note
Remind them to upload more throughout the event

Showing how many files they uploaded: type {{COUNT}} anywhere in the message and it is replaced with the number of files that guest just uploaded. For example, Thanks for adding {{COUNT}} photos! shows a guest who uploaded three files "Thanks for adding 3 photos!".

Linking to your gallery: type {{GALLERY_LINK}} and it becomes a clickable link to your public album, right inside the sentence. For example, Thanks for adding {{COUNT}} photos! {{GALLERY_LINK}}.

If the event has no public album, or you have turned off Show Album Link on Upload Screen, {{GALLERY_LINK}} is simply left out rather than showing a broken link — so write a sentence that still reads correctly without it.

{{COUNT}} and {{GALLERY_LINK}} are the only placeholders this field understands — any other text in braces is shown to guests exactly as you typed it. Your wording is used as-is, so phrase it so it still reads correctly when someone uploads a single file.

Leave any of these fields empty to use the default text.

Thank-You Surprise: Your Faces Burst on Screen

Make guests smile the moment they share a photo. With the Thank-you surprise, as soon as a guest's upload finishes, your faces pop up together on their screen, burst into dozens of little spinning copies, and then settle as a small badge on the thank-you card. It's made for the couple at a wedding or the star of a birthday party.

To set it up in the Upload Page Design settings:

In the Thank-you surprise section, click Add face and choose a close-up photo
Drag and resize the circle so the face fills it, then click Use this face
Add a second face if you like, for example one for each half of the couple
Optionally write a short Caption to show under the faces (up to 60 characters), such as "With love, Ana & Leo"
The surprise turns on by itself when you add your first face; the switch next to Thank-you surprise turns it off or back on
Click Play preview to watch it. Your changes save automatically as you go

What guests experience:

The full burst plays once on each guest's phone, right after their first upload. Later uploads show just your faces and caption on the thank-you card.
It lasts about two seconds and never blocks the screen, so guests can tap Upload More straight away.
Guests whose phone is set to reduce motion see a gentle fade instead of the burst.

The Thank-you surprise is available on all plans. You can change or remove a face, edit the caption, or turn the surprise off at any time.

Guest Upload Quality

In the Upload Quality section you control which photo quality options guests can pick when uploading:

Guests choose (both options) — Guests see a toggle with Optimized and Full HD (the default behavior). You also pick which one is pre-selected for them; unless you change it, Full HD is pre-selected on paid events.
Optimized only — The toggle is hidden and every photo uploads in Optimized quality.
Full HD only — The toggle is hidden and every photo uploads in Full HD, so you're guaranteed to receive all photos at maximum quality.

Note: Full HD uploads are only available on paid events. On Free plan events, guests always upload in Optimized quality regardless of this setting.

Upload Password

To limit who can add photos, turn on Upload password and type the password guests will need. It saves as soon as you leave the field, and guests are asked for it before they can upload from the QR code link. Leave the field empty to keep the current password, or turn the switch off to let anyone with the link upload again.

The page won't save the switch on without a password, so guests are never locked out by accident. The password to view your public album is a separate setting on the Public album tab: see How to Password Protect Your Album.

Show Photos on Upload Screen

At the bottom of the Upload page tab, you'll find the "Show Album Link on Upload Screen" toggle.

When enabled, the upload page shows a live preview of recent photos from your public album, plus a link to view them all, so guests can browse event photos right on the upload page. This encourages engagement and helps guests discover photos from other attendees. The link stays after uploads close: when the event is paused or finished, guests who open the upload page see that they can't upload anymore, with the album right below.

You can also control this from the Public album section in the Photo Statistics card (Photos → Photo Statistics), where it's labeled "Show photos on the upload screen" and is on by default once sharing is enabled.

Note: Public album sharing must be enabled for the preview to appear. If you haven't set it up yet, turn on Public album sharing in the Public album section first.

Step 7: Saving and Preview

Your changes save automatically a moment after you make them. The bar at the top says All changes saved once they're live, and offers Try again if a save fails
Click Preview to open the actual upload page in a new browser tab and see exactly what guests will experience
Use Reset if you want to revert back to the template defaults

Your design is saved per event — each event can have its own unique upload page style.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which plans include Upload Page Design? A: All plans, including the Free plan. Every event can customize its upload page.

Q: Can I change the design after the event has started? A: Yes! You can update the upload page design at any time, even while guests are actively uploading. Changes take effect immediately.

Q: Do guests need to refresh the page to see design changes? A: New visitors will see the latest design. Guests who already have the page open may need to refresh to see updates.

Q: Can different events have different designs? A: Yes, each event has its own independent upload page design. A wedding and a corporate event can look completely different.

Q: Will the design look good on all phones? A: Yes. The upload page is fully responsive and adapts to any screen size. Templates are designed to look great on both mobile and desktop.

Q: Can I use my own custom fonts? A: The font options come from a curated list of Google Fonts. Custom font uploads are not currently supported.

Q: Can I add links in the page description? A: Yes. Any URLs you type in the Custom Page Description field are automatically converted to clickable links when guests view the upload page.

Q: Can the success message show how many photos the guest uploaded? A: Yes. Put {{COUNT}} in the Custom Success Message and it is replaced with the number of files that guest just uploaded.

Q: Can I link to the gallery from my own success message? A: Yes. Put {{GALLERY_LINK}} where you want the link to appear and it becomes a clickable link to your public album. It is left out automatically if the album link is turned off or the event has no public album, so keep the sentence readable without it.

Q: Can I show our faces to guests after they upload? A: Yes. Add one or two face photos in the Thank-you surprise section and turn it on. Right after a guest's first upload, your faces burst across their screen and then stay on the thank-you card.

Q: Will guests see the face burst every time they upload? A: No. The burst plays once per phone, after the guest's first upload. Later uploads simply show your faces and caption on the thank-you card.

Q: Can I customize the success title separately from the message? A: Yes. The Custom Success Title and Custom Success Message are independent fields. You can customize one, both, or neither — each falls back to its own default text when left empty.

Q: What's the difference between the page layouts? A: Classic is the original centered card. Hero shows your event photo full-width at the top with the title overlaid. Minimal removes the card frame entirely. Hero needs an event photo — without one, the page uses the Classic layout.

Q: How do I make sure guests upload photos in the best quality? A: In the Upload Quality section, set the available options to Full HD only. The quality toggle disappears for guests and every photo is uploaded at original resolution. This requires a paid event — on the Free plan, uploads are always Optimized.

Q: How do I stop my event photo from being cropped on the upload page? A: In the Layout section, change the Event Photo setting from "Crop to fill" (the default) to "Fit whole photo" — which shows the entire photo with the page background around it — or "Fit with blurred background", which shows the full photo over a blurred copy of itself so there are no empty edges.

Q: Where is the "Show Album Link on Upload Screen" option? A: You'll find it at the bottom of the Upload Page Design settings, and also in the Public album section of the Photo Statistics card (labeled "Show photos on the upload screen").
