Glitterball Template — Complete Guide
Glitterball is an invitation for a night on the dance floor. A mirror ball hangs over your cover photo, its tiny mirrors catching the light and sparkling, beams of coloured light fan out from it across a dark club, and the name of your event is set in chrome lettering. The countdown sits on a lit dance floor and the replies come in behind a velvet rope.
Glitterball is one of Fotify's simpler designs: its look comes from one colour you choose for the lights — any colour at all — and the finish of the mirror ball.
This guide covers how Glitterball looks, the options unique to it, how to apply it to your event, and how it lays out each section of your invitation.
Glitterball is available on every plan, Free included.

What makes Glitterball different
Standard templates change colours and fonts over the same shared layout. Glitterball replaces the layout itself: its own cover and closing, its own section heads, and its own treatment of the message, countdown, gallery, story, programme and reply card.
Signature design elements
- A mirror ball — drawn from hundreds of tiny mirrors over your cover photo, with glints that sparkle in turn and coloured reflections that come and go as if it were turning
- Light in your colour — pick it from the suggested colours or from the colour picker. It becomes the beams, the reflections on the ball, the lit dance floor, the buttons and the small headings, and tints the dark club behind everything
- Beams of light — fanning out from the ball across the cover and the closing, swaying slowly
- Chrome lettering — the event name and the titles in Righteous, a rounded 70s display face, in silver, gold or holographic chrome, with the clean Outfit for everything you read
- A lit dance floor — under the cover, under the closing and behind the countdown, its tiles lighting up in your colour and two neighbouring shades
- Always readable — whatever colour you pick, even a pale yellow or a dark blue, Glitterball keeps the page dark and brightens your colour wherever text or a button needs to stand out
When to choose Glitterball
Glitterball suits any party that ends on the dance floor:
- Sweet sixteens and disco birthdays — in hot pink, violet or any colour the birthday guest loves
- New Year's Eve parties — in gold or silver, counting down on the dance floor
- 70s and disco-themed parties — platforms and sequins included
- Hen and bachelorette nights — a night out with the whole crew
- Company holiday parties — in your brand colour, with a guest list for the replies
Glitterball never writes your occasion for you: its default lines ("Join us on the dance floor", "See you on the dance floor") suit every party, and you can type your own cover line and closing line.
The photos everyone takes on the dance floor are part of the night. Guests can scan the event QR code and add their photos to the shared gallery. See how Fotify works for parties, birthdays and corporate events.
For a bright, playful party, try Confetti. For a December party with a festive look, try Advent.
Applying Glitterball to your event
- Open your event, click Invitation in the sidebar, then the Invitation tab
- In Design Template, click Change template if the gallery is collapsed, and find Glitterball under Designs (it is listed under the Party filter, and under Birthday and Corporate too)
- Optional: press Try it on to see Glitterball with your own invitation details in the live preview — nothing is saved until you press Use this design
- Or click the Glitterball card to apply it straight away
- Open Glitterball options below the gallery to pick your light colour, the finish and the other options described below. Changes save automatically
Glitterball works on every plan. On free events a small "Made with Fotify" badge appears in the bottom corner of the invitation; any paid plan or an active subscription removes it.
Switching to another template later is non-destructive: your event content stays exactly as you entered it, and your Glitterball options are kept in case you switch back.
Glitterball options
Glitterball has five options of its own. They take the place of the standard colour and font controls, which Glitterball doesn't use.
1. Light colour
The colour of the lights: the beams from the mirror ball, its coloured reflections, the lit dance floor, the buttons and the small headings. The page stays a dark club, tinted with your colour. Pick it two ways:
- A suggested swatch — Hot pink (default), Electric blue, Gold, Violet or Emerald
- Pick any color — the last chip opens your device's colour picker, so you can use your brand colour or the colour of the party exactly. The colour's code is shown beside the chips
Any colour works. A dark colour is brightened where it has to glow against the club (buttons, headings, the floor), so every label stays readable. A grey keeps a neutral, black-and-silver club.
2. Finish
The metal of the mirror ball and of the chrome lettering:
- Silver (default) — the classic mirror ball and polished chrome
- Gold — a warm gold ball and gold chrome lettering
- Holographic — an iridescent sheen of pastel pinks, blues, lilacs and yellows across the ball and the lettering
The finish also colours the stanchions of the velvet rope, the mirror strips and the edges of the cards.
3. Light beams
On by default: beams of light fan out from the mirror ball on the cover and at the close of the page, and sway slowly. Turn it off for a darker, simpler cover — the ball keeps sparkling. Guests whose device asks for reduced motion always see the beams, the ball and the dance floor still.
4. Cover line
The small line above the event name on the cover (up to 60 characters). Leave it blank to use the default ("Join us on the dance floor"). This is the place to say what the party is — for example "Sweet sixteen", "Saturday night fever" or "The office holiday party".
5. Closing line
The big line at the end of the page (up to 80 characters). Leave it blank to use the default ("See you on the dance floor").
Every piece of text Glitterball prints on the invitation — the cover line, the RSVP buttons, the section labels and titles, the countdown units, the closing line — can also be rewritten directly on the page: switch the live preview into edit mode and double-click the text. Section titles you have already set in their own settings (story, countdown, gifts, where to stay, getting there, FAQs) are edited in place the same way.
How each section is treated
Cover
A dark club replaces the standard header:
- The mirror ball hanging on its chain from the top of the page, sparkling, with beams of your light fanning out from it (option 3) and small specks of light on the walls beside it
- Your cover photo in a tall capsule with a chrome ring and a glow of your light, the ball hanging just over its top. It keeps the horizontal crop you set. Without a cover photo the capsule shows a 70s sunburst in your light with a glint at its centre, so the cover never looks empty
- Cover line (option 4) in your light, in spaced capitals
- Your event name in chrome lettering. Long names step down a size so they never break mid-word
- The date, the time and the place — the time follows the Show time setting of your invitation's cover, and every guest sees the date you picked, whatever their time zone
- RSVP — a button in your light that scrolls to the RSVP form. It only appears when your RSVP section is visible, and never on a save-the-date page
- A strip of lit dance floor at the foot of the cover
Section heads
Each section opens centred under a small glint between two chrome lines: the section's label in your light, then its title in chrome and, for the story and gifts, your subtitle or gift message.
Message — a card under a small mirror ball
Your message sits on a card with a chrome edge, a small mirror ball hanging on its chain in the middle of the top edge and a soft pool of its light above the text. A long message steps down a size and aligns to the start of the line, which is easier to read over many lines.
Countdown — on the dance floor
The countdown sits on a panel of lit dance-floor tiles that light up and fade in turn. Each unit is a dark glass plate on the floor, with its number in chrome and the unit name in your light. It counts down to your event's date and time in the venue's time zone, and shows your completed message once the moment arrives.
Gallery (Carousel)
Every photo is a square mirror tile in a chrome ring, with a glow of your light under it and a glint on its top corner — two across on a phone and three on wider screens (two for two or four photos, and a single centred tile for one). Every photo is framed the same way.
Story — a strip of mirrors
A strip of small mirror tiles runs down the page and every milestone is a glint on it, beside a card with its date in your light, its title, its text and its photo in a chrome ring. Every milestone is laid out the same way.
Itinerary — the setlist
Each day on its own card with a strip of small mirrors along its top and the date as its heading, and every entry on the same row: its time in a lit pill, then the moment, the place and any note, with a dotted line between rows. The moments are exactly the entries you write — doors open, dinner, the first dance, midnight — in your own words. Entry icons are not shown.
RSVP — the guest list behind a velvet rope
"Will you join us?" with your RSVP deadline under it, and the reply form on a card with a chrome edge and a velvet rope across its top: two stanchions in the finish's metal with a swag of velvet in a deep shade of your light between them. The send button is in your light. On a save-the-date page, the card holds the save-the-date note instead of the form.
Location, Gifts, Event Details and Save the Date
These four sections share their structure with Fotify's other picker-coloured designs (Meridian, Thread, Prism and Duotone), dressed in Glitterball's colours: dark cards with a fine chrome edge, rounded buttons in your light, and Righteous titles under Glitterball's glint heads.
- Location — a map card beside an address card with your address, your directions and an Open in Maps button. When a map can't be shown, the map card draws a pin with the venue's coordinates; without coordinates the address card spans the row
- Gifts — every registry, payment option, charity and wishlist item is its own card in a grid, grouped under small labels (with a count) when you offer more than one kind. Payment details sit in an inset box with a Copy button, and long account numbers wrap inside the card. Pay links, scan-to-pay QR codes and wishlist reservations appear as buttons on each card
- Event Details — a card per topic: dress code with your suggested and avoided colours as swatches, where to stay with each hotel as a mini-card (distance, price range, promo code, notes and a Book button), getting there with an icon for each kind of transport, and a full-width FAQ card where each question opens on tap
- Save the Date (Calendar) — one card with the title and the event date on one side, and Google, Apple (downloads the calendar file) and Outlook buttons on the other
Closing
A deeper band of the club with a smaller mirror ball hanging from its top edge (with its beams when they are on), your closing line (option 5) in chrome, the date and place, the same RSVP button as on the cover, and a strip of lit dance floor at the foot.
Sections that use the shared layout
These sections keep Fotify's shared layout and are dressed in Glitterball's style:
- Photo upload, QR code, Table assignment, Playlist, Sub-events, Special treatments and custom sections
Each sits in the same column as the rest of the page on a dark card with a fine chrome edge, with titles in Righteous and rounded buttons in your light. Photos in custom sections are capped in height so a tall portrait never takes over the page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I use Glitterball for a party that isn't a disco? A: Yes. The default lines talk about the dance floor, not a particular occasion, and you can write your own cover line and closing line. Pick the light colour and the finish that suit your night — gold or silver for New Year's Eve, your brand colour for a company party.
Q: Does Glitterball write my occasion or an age on the invitation? A: No. It never adds an age, a year or a greeting by itself. To say what the party is, type it as the Cover line — for example "Sweet sixteen" — or double-click any line in the live preview to change it.
Q: I picked a light colour. Why is the page dark? A: Glitterball is always a club at night: your colour lights the beams, the dance floor, the buttons and the headings, and tints the dark background. A dark colour is brightened where it needs to glow, so every label stays readable.
Q: Can I stop the beams and the sparkle? A: Turn off Light beams for a cover without beams; the mirror ball keeps sparkling and the dance floor keeps lighting up. Guests whose device asks for reduced motion see everything still.
Q: What does the holographic finish look like? A: The mirror ball and the chrome lettering take an iridescent sheen of pastel pinks, blues, lilacs and yellows, like a hologram foil, instead of plain silver or gold.
Q: I don't have a cover photo. Will the cover look empty? A: No. Without a photo, the capsule under the mirror ball shows a 70s sunburst in your light with a glint at its centre.
Q: Can I write the invitation in another language? A: Yes. Your own texts (the event name, the message, the programme, the story) appear exactly as you write them. Glitterball's display font covers Latin and Latin Extended; other scripts use your device's own font.
Q: Does Glitterball work in right-to-left languages? A: Yes. In Hebrew and Arabic the layout mirrors: the story's strip of mirrors runs down the right side and the countdown reads from the right. The mirror ball, the beams and the velvet rope are symmetric, and the cover photo's crop stays as you set it.
