Nova Template โ€” Complete Guide

Nova is an invitation laid out like the website of a bright, friendly tech conference. The page is a soft colour โ€” periwinkle by default โ€” with big blurred glows drifting slowly behind everything and giant four-point sparkles scattered across it. Your event name stands huge in tall condensed capitals, the date and the place sit in white pills above it, a countdown chip ticks under it, and a hand-drawn arrow loops down to the reply button. Every section floats on the page as a white rounded panel, and your gifts, details and reply card are dark tickets with notches cut into their sides.

Nova is one of Fotify's simpler designs: its look comes from two colours you choose โ€” any colours at all โ€” for the page and the ink.

This guide covers how Nova looks, the options unique to it, how to apply it to your event, and how it lays out each section of your invitation.

Nova is available on every plan, Free included.

For an overview of the template gallery and the picker, see How to Customize Your RSVP Invitation.

What makes Nova different

Standard templates change colours and fonts over the same shared layout. Nova replaces the layout itself: its own cover and closing, its own section heads, and its own treatment of the message, countdown, gallery, story, agenda and reply card.

Signature design elements

  • A glowing page โ€” large soft blobs of light in shades of your page colour drift slowly behind the panels
  • Giant sparkles โ€” big four-point stars, some filled and some drawn as outlines, peek out from behind the cover, the panels and the closing; a couple of them turn slowly
  • Conference typography โ€” Saira Extra Condensed for the event name, the titles and the numbers, Lexend for the reading text and the giant closing line, and DM Mono for the small labels, the pills and the times
  • A countdown chip โ€” days, hours and minutes in an outlined pill on the cover
  • A hand-drawn arrow โ€” a looping arrow draws itself once and points at the reply button
  • White panels โ€” every section floats on the page as its own white rounded panel
  • Tickets โ€” your gifts, the dress code, where to stay, getting there and the reply card are dark ticket cards, with a diamond notch cut into each side and a dashed perforation between them
  • Always readable โ€” whatever colours you pick, even a pale yellow or a near-black, the text and the buttons are adjusted until they read clearly

When to choose Nova

Nova suits events that want to feel upbeat, modern and a little playful:

  • Product launches and launch parties โ€” your launch name huge on the cover, a live countdown, and the evening's programme in tabs
  • Tech meetups and conferences โ€” an agenda by day, the people behind it as speaker-style cards, and a list of questions guests can scan
  • Company parties and offsites โ€” the page and the ink in your brand colours, and the practical details on clear ticket cards
  • Milestone birthdays โ€” a launch-night feel for a 30th or a 40th, with the closing line in your own words

Whatever the occasion, the photos your guests take matter as much as the invitation. Guests can scan the event QR code and add their photos to the shared gallery. See how Fotify works for corporate events.

For a darker, panel-built summit page, try Stack. For a launch night on a black page with a glowing ribbon, try Signal.

Applying Nova to your event

  1. Open your event, click Invitation in the sidebar, then the Invitation tab
  2. In Design Template, click Change template if the gallery is collapsed, and find Nova under Designs (it is listed under the Corporate filter, and under Party and Birthday too)
  3. Optional: press Try it on to see Nova with your own invitation details in the live preview โ€” nothing is saved until you press Use this design
  4. Or click the Nova card to apply it straight away
  5. Open Nova options below the gallery to pick your colours and the other options described below. Changes save automatically

Nova works on every plan. On free events a small "Made with Fotify" badge appears in the bottom corner of the invitation; any paid plan or an active subscription removes it.

Switching to another template later is non-destructive: your event content stays exactly as you entered it, and your Nova options are kept in case you switch back.

Nova options

Nova has five options of its own. They take the place of the standard colour and font controls, which Nova doesn't use.

1. Page colour

The colour of the page behind the white panels and of the soft glows drifting across it. Pick a suggested swatch โ€” Periwinkle (default), Lilac, Mint, Peach or Butter โ€” or Pick any color to open your device's colour picker and match a brand colour exactly. The colour's code is shown beside the chips.

Any colour works: a dark pick is lightened just enough for your event name and headings to read on it. On a strong colour such as the default periwinkle, the second cover line and the closing line are white; on a light colour such as mint or butter they take a deep shade of the same colour instead. The small labels on the panels and the accents on the tickets take a shade of your page colour too.

2. Ink

The dark of the page: your event name, the headings, the buttons and the dark ticket cards. Swatches: Midnight (default), Black, Plum and Forest, or Pick any color. Any colour works: it is deepened in its own hue until white text on it reads clearly, so the tickets always stay dark.

3. Giant sparkles

On by default. Turn it off to remove the big four-point stars from behind the cover, the panels and the closing for a calmer page. The small sparkle beside each section label stays.

4. Second cover line

An optional line under your event name, set light and large (up to 40 characters) โ€” for example the city in two scripts ("TOKYO ๆฑไบฌ"), a theme or a tagline. Leave it blank and nothing is shown. Nova never fills it in from your address.

5. Closing line

The giant lowercase line across the bottom of the page (up to 60 characters). Leave it blank to use the default ("see you there"). Whatever you type is shown in lowercase.

Every piece of text Nova prints on the invitation โ€” the reply buttons, the section labels and titles, the countdown units, the gallery arrows' names, the ticket's pass label, the closing line โ€” can also be rewritten directly on the page: switch the live preview into edit mode and double-click the text. Section titles you have already set in their own settings (story, countdown, gifts, where to stay, getting there, FAQs) are edited in place the same way.

How each section is treated

Cover

The cover sits straight on the glowing page and replaces the standard header:

  • The date and the time in one white pill and the place in another โ€” the time follows the Show time setting of your invitation's cover, the date and the place follow Show date and Show location, and every guest sees the date you picked, whatever their time zone
  • Your event name, huge in condensed capitals, stacked over two or three lines. Long names step down a size so they never break mid-word
  • The second cover line (option 4), when you typed one
  • The countdown chip โ€” days, hours and minutes to your event in the venue's time zone, in an outlined pill. It shows while your Countdown section is switched on and the event is still ahead
  • Your cover photo as a white-framed card, slightly tilted, keeping the horizontal crop you set
  • The reply button with a hand-drawn arrow looping down to it. It scrolls to the RSVP form, and only appears when your RSVP section is visible, never on a save-the-date page

Section heads

Each section opens with a tiny sparkle and its label in small monospaced capitals, in a shade of your page colour, then its title in tall condensed capitals and, for the story and gifts, your subtitle or gift message.

Message โ€” the intro

Your message on a white panel, set large in the reading face like the opening paragraph of a conference site. A long message steps down a size.

Countdown โ€” the clock

Each unit is a huge condensed numeral over its name, with thin upright lines between the units โ€” all in one row on a wide screen, two to a row on a phone. It counts down to your event's date and time in the venue's time zone, and shows your completed message once the moment arrives.

Gallery (Carousel)

Your photos as a row of tall rounded cards that scrolls sideways inside the panel, snapping photo by photo, with round previous and next arrows beside the title when there is more than one photo.

Story โ€” speaker cards

Each milestone is a pale card like a speaker's: its photo as a tall rounded portrait, its title in condensed capitals, its date in small monospaced letters, and its text below. Every milestone is set the same way; one without a photo gets a panel in your page colour with a sparkle, and one without a date leaves the date out.

Itinerary โ€” the schedule in tabs

With more than one day, each day gets a tab labelled with its date (or the label you gave it): the tabs stand in a column beside the sessions on a wide screen and in a scrolling row above them on a phone, and guests can move between them with the arrow keys too. With a single day there are no tabs, just the day's date or label over its sessions. Each session is a pale row with the time in a column of its own, the moment in condensed capitals, and its note and place under it. Entry icons are not shown.

RSVP โ€” the guest pass

"Grab your spot" with your RSVP deadline under it, and the reply form on a dark ticket: a stub across the top with "Guest pass" and the event's date in a pill, a dashed perforation between two diamond notches, then the form. On a save-the-date page the ticket holds the save-the-date note instead of the form.

Location, Gifts, Event Details and Save the Date

These four sections share their structure with Fotify's other picker-coloured designs (Meridian, Thread, Prism and Duotone), dressed in Nova's style:

  • Location โ€” on a white panel: a map card beside an address card with your address, your directions and an Open in Maps button. When a map can't be shown, the map card draws a pin with the venue's coordinates; without coordinates the address card spans the row
  • Gifts โ€” every registry, payment option and charity is a dark ticket with its icon in the stub and a perforation under it, grouped under small labels (with a count) when you offer more than one kind. Payment details sit in an inset box with a Copy button, and long account numbers wrap inside the ticket. Pay links, scan-to-pay QR codes and wishlist reservations appear as buttons on each card; a wishlist item with a photo opens with its photo instead of a stub
  • Event Details โ€” the dress code (with your suggested and avoided colours as swatches), where to stay (each hotel as a mini-card with distance, price range, promo code, notes and a Book button) and getting there (an icon for each kind of transport) are dark tickets; your FAQ stays on the white panel as a list of questions between fine lines, each opening with a plus
  • Save the Date (Calendar) โ€” a pale card with the title, the event date and Google, Apple (downloads the calendar file) and Outlook buttons

Closing

Your closing line (option 5) set giant in lowercase across the page, its last line pushed to the far side, with more sparkles behind it; under it, the date and place and a reply button.

Sections that use the shared layout

These sections keep Fotify's shared layout and are dressed in Nova's style:

  • Photo upload, QR code, Table assignment, Playlist, Sub-events, Special treatments and custom sections

Each becomes a white panel in the same column as the rest of the page, with titles in condensed capitals and buttons in your ink colour. Photos in custom sections are capped in height so a tall portrait never takes over the page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where does the second line under the event name come from? A: Only from the Second cover line option, exactly as you type it. Nova never takes it from your address or your event name, and when you leave it blank nothing is shown.

Q: Can I write the second line in another script, like Japanese or Arabic? A: Yes. Characters the design's fonts don't include are shown in your guest's system font, so "TOKYO ๆฑไบฌ" or "DUBAI ุฏุจูŠ" reads correctly.

Q: Why isn't the countdown chip showing on my cover? A: The chip follows your Countdown section: switch the section on and it appears, as long as the event is still ahead. It disappears by itself once the event starts.

Q: I picked a dark page colour. Why does the page look lighter? A: Your event name and headings sit straight on the page in your ink colour, so Nova lightens a dark page colour just enough for them to read. For a dark page, try Stack or Signal.

Q: I don't have a cover photo. Will the cover look empty? A: No. Without a photo the cover keeps its pills, your event name, the countdown chip and the reply button with its arrow, over the glowing page and the sparkles.

Q: Does Nova work in right-to-left languages? A: Yes. In Hebrew and Arabic the layout mirrors: your event name and the pills move to the right, the photo and the reply button to the left, the hand-drawn arrow is flipped to keep pointing at the button, and the arrow keys on the agenda tabs follow the reading direction.

Q: Does the page move? A: Only gently: the glows drift slowly, a couple of sparkles turn, and the arrow draws itself once. Guests whose device asks for reduced motion see a still page with the arrow already drawn.
