Prism Template — Complete Guide
Prism is an invitation made of soft light. You pick one colour, and Prism builds a whole colour story from it: a wash of glowing gradients behind the page, a big gradient title, gradient buttons, and sections that float over the light as frosted-glass cards. The type is a bold, friendly sans. It feels fresh and current — like the launch page of a well-designed product — and stays perfectly readable whatever colour you choose.
Prism is one of Fotify's simpler, modern designs: its character comes from one colour you choose — any colour at all — and how the light falls.
This guide covers how Prism looks, the options unique to it, how to apply it to your event, and how it lays out each section of your invitation.
Prism is available on every plan, Free included.
For an overview of the template gallery and the picker, see How to Customize Your RSVP Invitation.
What makes Prism different
Standard templates change colours and fonts over the same shared layout. Prism replaces the layout itself: its own cover and closing, a backdrop of light, and its own treatment of the message, countdown, gallery, story and schedule.
Signature design elements
- A page made of your colour — three soft glows in your colour and two companion colours sit behind the whole page. They stay in place while the content scrolls over them, so the light is always there
- One pick, a whole palette — Prism derives the companions from your colour by a colour harmony you choose: neighbouring hues, the opposite hue, a three-way mix or shades of your colour alone
- Gradient type — the event name, the closing title, the countdown numbers and the story numbers are set in a deep gradient of your colours, dark enough to read like ink
- Gradient buttons — the reply button and every main action are filled with a gradient of your colours, with one label colour that stays readable across the whole gradient
- Frosted cards — sections float over the light as frosted glass that lets the colour through (or, if you prefer, solid white or simple outlined cards)
- Drifting light — the glows drift very slowly behind the page
- One family of type — everything is set in Plus Jakarta Sans: extra-bold for titles, semi-bold for labels and buttons, regular for reading
- Your colour, any colour — pick one of the suggested swatches or any colour from the colour picker. Even a grey or a very pale pick lights the page, and every label stays readable: Prism adjusts the shade of each use (text, buttons, glows) separately
When to choose Prism
Prism suits events that want to feel modern, bright and optimistic:
- Product launches, tech events and startup parties — set Prism in your brand colour with One colour harmony for a clean, on-brand page. See corporate events
- Summits, conferences and meetups — the frosted ticket on the cover keeps the date, time and place clear, and the schedule reads as a tidy programme. See conferences
- Company parties, team celebrations and offsites — Three-way harmony and Mesh light give a playful, colourful page
- Modern weddings — a pastel wedding in rose, mint or violet with Round corners and frosted cards feels soft and contemporary; the Halo light frames your names
- Birthdays, baby showers and engagement parties that want colour without clutter
If you want a bolder split-screen page in your brand colour, try Meridian. For one elegant line in your colour, try Thread. For a dark page with glowing light, try Aurora.
Applying Prism to your event
- Open your event, click Invitation in the sidebar, then the Invitation tab
- In Design Template, click Change template if the gallery is collapsed, and find Prism under Designs (it is listed under the Minimal, Corporate and Wedding filters)
- Optional: press Try it on to see Prism with your own invitation details in the live preview — nothing is saved until you press Use this design
- Or click the Prism card to apply it straight away
- Open Prism options below the gallery to pick your colour and the other options described below. Changes save automatically
Prism works on every plan. On free events a small "Made with Fotify" badge appears in the bottom corner of the invitation; any paid plan or an active subscription removes it.
Switching to another template later is non-destructive: your event content stays exactly as you entered it, and your Prism options are kept in case you switch back.
Prism options
Prism has eight options of its own. They take the place of the standard colour and font controls, which Prism doesn't use.
1. Your colour
The light the page is made of. Prism builds the glows, the gradient title, the buttons, the page tint and even the text colour from it. Pick it two ways:
- A suggested swatch — Violet (default), Ocean, Mint, Coral, Rose, Sunflower, Indigo or Forest
- Pick any color — the last chip opens your device's colour picker, so you can use your brand colour or your wedding colour exactly. The colour's code is shown beside the chips
Any colour works. Prism uses your colour at three strengths, each adjusted on its own so it always does its job: pastel for the glows behind the page, deep shades for the gradient title, and button fills dark or light enough for their label to read clearly. A greyish colour is given a little more saturation so it still lights the page. The text is a near-black tinted with your hue, so it belongs to the colour story without ever turning grey on grey.
2. Colour harmony
Which colours join yours in the light and the gradients:
- Neighbouring hues (default) — the two colours on either side of yours on the colour wheel: calm and cohesive
- Opposite hue — the colour opposite yours, plus a close neighbour: livelier
- Three-way — the two colours a third of the way round the wheel: playful
- One colour — lighter and deeper shades of your colour alone: quiet, and the most on-brand for a company
3. Light
How the light falls behind the page:
- Mesh (default) — three soft glows in different corners of the screen
- Horizon — one wide glow rising from the bottom of the screen, the others faint
- Halo — a soft ring of your colours behind the title
4. Cards
How the sections' cards look:
- Frosted glass (default) — translucent white with a soft blur, letting the colour through
- Solid white — crisp white cards with a fine border and a soft shadow
- Outline — barely-there cards with a stronger outline, the lightest touch
5. Corners
How rounded the cards, photos and buttons are:
- Round (default) — very rounded cards and pill buttons
- Soft — gently rounded cards and pill buttons
- Sharp — nearly square cards, and the buttons become squared too
6. Drifting light
On by default: the glows drift very slowly behind the page, over half a minute or so. Guests who have reduced motion turned on on their device always see them still. Turn it off and the light stays put for everyone.
7. Cover label
The small frosted pill above the event name, with a dot of your gradient (up to 60 characters). Leave it blank to use the default ("You're invited"). Try "Product launch", "Save the date" or "Join us".
8. Closing title
The big gradient line at the end of the page (up to 80 characters). Leave it blank to use the default ("Can't wait to see you"). Try "See you there", "Let's celebrate" or "Until launch day".
Every piece of text Prism prints on the invitation — the cover label, the ticket labels (Date, Time, Where), the RSVP button, the section labels and titles, the countdown units, the closing title — can also be rewritten directly on the page: switch the live preview into edit mode and double-click the text. Section titles you have already set in their own settings (story, countdown, gifts, where to stay, getting there, FAQs) are edited in place the same way.
How each section is treated
Cover
A centred cover replaces the standard header:
- Cover label (option 7) in a frosted pill, then your event name set very large in the deep gradient of your colours. Long names step down a size so they never break mid-word
- A frosted ticket with the Date, Time and Where side by side (on phones the place takes its own row). The time follows the Show time setting of your invitation's cover, and every guest sees the date you picked, whatever their time zone
- RSVP — a large gradient button that scrolls to the RSVP form. It only appears when your RSVP section is visible, and never on a save-the-date page
- Your cover photo below, in a large rounded frame with a translucent white border — wide on computers, a little taller on phones. It keeps the horizontal crop you set
Section heads
Each section opens with its small label in a frosted pill with a dot of your gradient, then the title and, for the story and gifts, your subtitle or gift message — centred, like a product page.
Message
Your invitation message on one frosted card, set large and centred. A long letter switches to a comfortable reading size, aligned to the start of the line.
Countdown
One frosted tile per unit — days, hours, minutes and (if you switch them on) seconds — with the numbers in the deep gradient of the title. When the countdown ends, your completion message replaces the tiles.
Gallery (Carousel)
A masonry of rounded photos that keep their own shape — nothing is cropped and there are no gaps.
Story
Numbered frosted cards in a grid: the photo, the date in a pill, the title and the description, with the number in your gradient. Every milestone is laid out the same way; one without a photo is simply a shorter card. Your story subtitle appears under the section title.
Itinerary
One frosted card per day under its date; each entry is a row led by a gradient pill with the time, then the event, the place and any note.
Location, Gifts, Event Details, Save the Date and RSVP
These five sections share their structure with Fotify's other picker-coloured designs (Meridian, Thread and Duotone), drawn in Prism's colours, corners and card style:
- Location — a map card beside an address card with your address, your directions and an Open in Maps button. When a map can't be shown, the map card draws a pin with the venue's coordinates; without coordinates the address card spans the row
- Gifts — every registry, payment option, charity and wishlist item is its own card in a grid, grouped under small labels (with a count) when you offer more than one kind. Payment details sit in an inset box with a Copy button, and long account numbers or wallet addresses wrap inside the card. Pay links, scan-to-pay QR codes and wishlist reservations appear as buttons on each card
- Event Details — a card per topic: dress code with your suggested and avoided colours as swatches, where to stay with each hotel as a mini-card (distance, price range, promo code, notes and a Book button), getting there with an icon for each kind of transport, and a full-width FAQ card where each question opens on tap
- Save the Date (Calendar) — one card with the title and the event date on one side, and Google, Apple (downloads the calendar file) and Outlook buttons on the other; the Google button carries your gradient
- RSVP — "Are you in?" with your RSVP deadline under it in a soft pill, and the reply form on a card topped with a band of your gradient. The attend / decline choices become two selectable boxes, fields become rounded inputs, and the send button is filled with your gradient. On a save-the-date page, the card holds the save-the-date note instead of the form
Closing
A frosted closing card with your closing title (option 8) in the gradient, the date and place, and a final gradient RSVP button.
Sections that use the shared layout
These sections keep Fotify's shared layout and are dressed in Prism's style:
- Photo upload, QR code, Table assignment, Playlist, Sub-events, Special treatments and custom sections
Each sits in the same column as the rest of the page, on a Prism card (frosted, solid or outlined, as you chose), with titles in extra-bold Plus Jakarta Sans and buttons in Prism's corners. The upload button is filled with your gradient, table numbers appear as chips in your colour, and photos in custom sections are rounded and capped in height so a tall portrait never takes over the page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I use my brand colour? A: Yes. Click the last chip in the Your colour option (Pick any color) and choose your colour in your device's colour picker. For a strictly on-brand page, set Colour harmony to One colour, so only shades of your colour appear.
Q: The title isn't exactly my colour. Why? A: The title uses deep shades of your colours so it reads like ink against the light page, and the buttons are adjusted so their label stays readable. The glows behind the page use the light, pastel version. All of them keep your hue.
Q: Is there a dark version of Prism? A: No. Prism is a light design: the page is always a soft tint of your colour. For a dark page with glowing light, try Aurora.
Q: Will the drifting light bother guests who are sensitive to motion? A: No. The glows only drift for guests whose device allows animations; with reduced motion turned on they stay still. You can also turn the drift off for everyone with the Drifting light option.
Q: Does Prism work in right-to-left languages? A: Yes. In Hebrew and Arabic the layout mirrors, and the glows swap sides with it. The cover photo keeps the crop you chose.
Q: Can I use custom RSVP fields with Prism? A: Yes. Custom fields (dropdowns, dates, checkboxes, file uploads and so on) pick up Prism's rounded fields and labels automatically.
