Vintage Template โ Complete Guide
Vintage turns your invitation into a bottle of fine wine. The cover is a bottle standing on the page, with a foil capsule over the cork and a collar round its neck, and on its body a label with your event printed as the wine's name. The countdown is stamped on corks, your story becomes tasting notes, the programme is a wine list and the reply form hangs from a cork on a tag tied with twine.
Vintage is one of Fotify's simpler designs: its look comes from one label colour you choose โ burgundy, bottle green, navy, champagne or any colour at all โ and a label style.
This guide covers how Vintage looks, the options unique to it, how to apply it to your event, and how it lays out each section of your invitation.
Vintage is available on every plan, Free included.
For an overview of the template gallery and the picker, see How to Customize Your RSVP Invitation.
What makes Vintage different
Standard templates change colours and fonts over the same shared layout. Vintage replaces the layout itself: its own cover and closing, its own section heads, and its own treatment of the message, countdown, gallery, story, programme and reply.
Signature design elements
- A bottle on the cover โ dark glass in a deep shade of your colour, a foil capsule, a collar round the neck with your vintage year (or a small grape cluster), and the label on its body with your event name, the date, the time and the place
- Three label styles โ classic engraved on cream, modern minimal on white, or gold foil on a label in your colour, with the whole page lit like a cellar
- Corks for the countdown โ each number branded on a cork inside an oval stamp, in your label colour
- Tasting notes, a wine list, a cellar wall โ your story on ruled tasting cards with the ring a glass left on them, the programme with dotted leaders to the times, the gallery in vaulted niches on a brick wall
- Engraved type โ Bodoni Moda for the names and titles, EB Garamond for everything you read, true small capitals (Cormorant SC) for the labels; the modern style uses Jost's spaced capitals instead
- Always readable โ whatever colour you pick, even a pale yellow or a near-black, the text and the buttons are adjusted until they read clearly
When to choose Vintage
Vintage suits celebrations with a glass raised:
- Milestone birthdays โ 40th, 50th, 60th and beyond: "Aged to perfection" on the label and the year of birth as the vintage ("Est. 1976")
- Retirements โ a fine vintage for a long career; rewrite the label line as "Forty years in the making"
- Wine tastings and cellar dinners โ the wine list holds the flight, the tasting notes hold the story of the evening
- Anniversaries and dinner parties โ the gold foil label on a cellar-dark page makes an elegant evening
Whatever the occasion, the photos your guests take matter as much as the invitation. Guests can scan the event QR code and add their photos to the shared gallery. See how Fotify works for birthdays.
For an embossed keepsake card stamped in foil, try Milestone. For a restaurant menu card on a linen tablecloth, try Supper.
Applying Vintage to your event
- Open your event, click Invitation in the sidebar, then the Invitation tab
- In Design Template, click Change template if the gallery is collapsed, and find Vintage under Designs (it is listed under the Birthday filter, and under Party too)
- Optional: press Try it on to see Vintage with your own invitation details in the live preview โ nothing is saved until you press Use this design
- Or click the Vintage card to apply it straight away
- Open Vintage options below the gallery to pick your label colour and the other options described below. Changes save automatically
Vintage works on every plan. On free events a small "Made with Fotify" badge appears in the bottom corner of the invitation; any paid plan or an active subscription removes it.
Switching to another template later is non-destructive: your event content stays exactly as you entered it, and your Vintage options are kept in case you switch back.
Vintage options
Vintage has seven options of its own. They take the place of the standard colour and font controls, which Vintage doesn't use.
1. Label colour
The colour of the wine. Pick it two ways:
- A suggested swatch โ Burgundy (default), Bottle green, Navy, Champagne, Rosรฉ or Charcoal
- Pick any color โ the last chip opens your device's colour picker, so you can match your party colours exactly. The colour's code is shown beside the chips
Any colour works. Vintage prints the label in it (or uses it as the label itself in gold foil), dyes the capsule, the bottle glass and the cellar wall with deep shades of it, and brands the corks with it. Text and buttons use a shade deep enough to read clearly. A grey stays grey: charcoal gives a charcoal label, not a tinted one.
2. Label style
- Classic engraved (default) โ a cream label with cut corners, a double frame printed in your colour with small corner ornaments, your photo in an engraved oval (or a grape cluster without one), everything centred
- Modern minimal โ a crisp white label with a block of your colour across its top, big start-aligned type, your photo as a clean rectangle, spaced sans capitals for the labels
- Gold foil โ the label in your colour, printed in gold, with a gold capsule; the whole page goes dark like a cellar lit for a tasting, with a spotlight behind the bottle
3. Paper
The paper of the page and the cards for the classic and modern labels: Cream laid (default, with fine laid lines), White or Kraft (brown recycled paper). The gold foil style always sits on its dark cellar page.
4. Vintage year
Printed at the foot of the label ("Est. 1976") and on the collar round the bottle's neck, exactly as you type it (up to 10 characters) โ for example "1976" or "MCMLXXVI". Leave it blank and no year is shown: the collar shows a small grape cluster instead. Vintage never works the year out from your event date.
5. Foil shine
On by default: a slow glint of light runs over the capsule, and over the gold of a foil label. Turn it off for a perfectly still cover. Guests whose device asks for reduced motion always see it still.
6. Label line
The small capitals at the top of the label (up to 60 characters). Leave it blank to use the default ("Aged to perfection"). Try "Fifty years in the making" or "A tasting evening".
7. Closing line
The toast at the end of the page (up to 80 characters). Leave it blank to use the default ("Let's raise a glass").
Every piece of text Vintage prints on the invitation โ the label line, "Grande Rรฉserve", the captions on the label ("Uncorked on", "From", "Served at", "Est."), the Kindly reply buttons, the section labels and titles, the countdown units, the closing line โ can also be rewritten directly on the page: switch the live preview into edit mode and double-click the text. Section titles you have already set in their own settings (story, countdown, gifts, where to stay, getting there, FAQs) are edited in place the same way.
How each section is treated
Cover โ the bottle
Vintage's cover replaces the standard header with a bottle standing on the page:
- The capsule and the collar โ a foil capsule in your colour (gold on a foil label), and round the neck a collar with your vintage year (option 4) or a small grape cluster
- The label โ the label line (option 6), your cover photo as the engraved vignette (keeping the horizontal crop you set), your event name as the wine's name, the "Grande Rรฉserve" line, an engraved rule, then the date, the time and the place under small captions โ the time follows the Show time setting of your invitation's cover, the date and the place follow Show date and Show location, and every guest sees the date you picked, whatever their time zone. "Est." and your year close the label when you set a year
- A Kindly reply button under the bottle that scrolls to the RSVP form. It only appears when your RSVP section is visible, and never on a save-the-date page
Your event name is printed exactly as you typed it. Long names step down a size so they never break mid-word. On a wide screen two large engraved grape clusters hang beside the bottle (classic and gold foil).
Section heads
Each section opens centred: a small vine leaf between two engraved hairlines, a label in small capitals, the title in Bodoni and, for the story and gifts, your subtitle or gift message in italics.
Message โ the back label
Your message printed on a second label, like the back of a bottle: a small-capital heading, an engraved rule, your message centred at reading size, and a little barcode at its foot (decoration only). A long message aligns to the start of the line.
Countdown โ corks
Each unit โ days, hours, minutes and, if you show them, seconds โ is a cork standing on end, its number branded in your label colour inside an oval stamp, the unit in small capitals beneath. It counts down to your event's date and time in the venue's time zone, and shows your completed message once the moment arrives.
Gallery (Carousel) โ the cellar wall
A full-width band of brick in the deepest shade of your colour, with every photo in its own vaulted niche โ a round-topped arch with a gold rim โ three across on a wide screen, two on a phone, a short last row centred.
Story โ tasting notes
Each milestone is a tasting card: its photo mounted at the top, the number, the date in small capitals, the title in Bodoni and the text in italics on the card's ruled lines, with the faint ring a glass of red left on one corner. A milestone without a photo is a shorter card.
Itinerary โ the wine list
One tall menu card with a grape cluster at its head. Each day's heading sits between two engraved rules; each moment is a line of the list โ the moment, a dotted leader and the time where a wine list prints its price โ with the place and any note in italics beneath. Your entry icons are not shown.
RSVP โ a tag tied round a cork
The reply form sits on a tall tag with rounded top corners and an engraved line inside its edge, hung by a loop of twine from a cork through a brass eyelet. Your RSVP deadline sits under the title. On a save-the-date page the tag carries the save-the-date note instead of the form.
Gifts, Event Details, Location and Save the Date
These share their structure with Fotify's other picker-coloured designs, dressed in Vintage's engraved cards (a fine double rule round each card):
- Gifts โ every registry, payment option, charity and wishlist item on its own card, grouped under small labels when you offer more than one kind. Payment details sit in an inset box with a Copy button; pay links, scan-to-pay QR codes and wishlist reservations appear as buttons on each card
- Event Details โ a card per topic: the dress code with your suggested and avoided colours as swatches, where to stay and getting there as small cards (with a Book button where you added a link), and the FAQ as questions that open on tap
- Location โ a map card beside an address card with your address, your directions and an Open in Maps button. When a map can't be shown, the map card draws a pin with the venue's coordinates; without coordinates the address card spans the row
- Save the Date (Calendar) โ one card with the title, the event date and Google, Apple (downloads the calendar file) and Outlook buttons
Closing
Two wine glasses raised to each other, your closing line in large Bodoni italics (option 7), the date and place, and a Kindly reply button.
Sections that use the shared layout
These sections keep Fotify's shared layout and are dressed in Vintage's style:
- Photo upload, QR code, Table assignment, Playlist, Sub-events, Special treatments and custom sections
Each sits in the same column as the rest of the page on an engraved card, with titles in Bodoni and buttons in your label colour (gold on the foil style). Photos in custom sections are capped in height so a tall portrait never takes over the page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where does the wine's name on the label come from? A: From your event name, exactly as you typed it. Write it the way you want it on the bottle, for example "Michael's 50th" or "Chรขteau Laura".
Q: Will Vintage show the year I was born or the age I'm turning? A: Only if you type it. The vintage year is your own text (option 4); Vintage never works a year or an age out from your dates. Leave it blank and no year is shown.
Q: I picked champagne. Why is the text on the label darker than the colour I chose? A: Text and buttons use a deeper shade of the same colour so they stay readable on the cream label. The capsule shows your colour at its truest; on the modern style the block across the label's top is your colour as picked.
Q: Can I use Vintage for something other than a birthday? A: Yes. Rewrite the Label line, and the section labels and titles in edit mode. It suits retirements, wine tastings, anniversaries and dinner parties.
Q: Does Vintage work in right-to-left languages? A: Yes. In Hebrew and Arabic the page mirrors where it matters โ the modern label aligns to the right, the wine list's times move to the left โ while the bottle and the centred label stay as they are. The cover photo's crop stays as you set it.
Q: Does the page move? A: Only the foil shine (option 5): a slow glint over the capsule and the gold of a foil label. Guests whose device asks for reduced motion see a still page.
