Cabana Template โ Complete Guide
Cabana is a breezy invitation for a wedding by the sea. Wide vertical cabana stripes run behind your invitation, your countdown, your photos, your day and your reply, with cream panels sitting on them like signs on a beach hut, and little hand-drawn doodles โ rings, clinking glasses, a cake, a bell โ scattered where they belong.
Cabana is one of Fotify's simpler designs: its look comes from one colour you choose โ any colour at all โ for the stripes, the lettering and the drawings, plus a choice of cover.
This guide covers how Cabana looks, the options unique to it, how to apply it to your event, and how it lays out each section of your invitation.
Cabana is available on every plan, Free included.
For an overview of the template gallery and the picker, see How to Customize Your RSVP Invitation.
What makes Cabana different
Standard templates change colours and fonts over the same shared layout. Cabana replaces the layout itself: its own cover and closing, its own section heads, and its own treatment of the message, countdown, gallery, story, itinerary, venue and reply card.
Signature design elements
- Cabana stripes โ wide vertical stripes in two shades of your colour behind the message, the countdown, the gallery, the itinerary and the reply. The sections in between sit on warm sand or on white
- Cartouche panels โ cream panels with scooped corners and a curved, bracket-shaped crown, standing on the stripes. They hold your invitation and your countdown, your day and your reply card
- Ink doodles โ nine little line drawings of our own in your colour, with a pale wash inside: two rings with hearts, clinking champagne glasses, a couple, a cake, a bell, a camera, a cocktail, music notes and a suitcase
- Fanned photo decks โ each chapter of your story is a white photo card with two more fanned out behind it, their backs printed with faint stripes
- Diamond-tipped lines โ every small section label sits between two fine lines ending in a diamond
- Typography โ Afacad, a soft, slightly condensed sans, for your names, the titles, the numbers and the times; Reddit Sans for the reading text and the small spaced capitals
- Always readable โ whatever colour you pick, even a pale yellow or a near-black, the stripes and the lettering are adjusted until every word reads clearly
When to choose Cabana
Cabana suits light-hearted, sunny celebrations:
- Beach and seaside weddings โ stripes like a row of beach huts and a cover photo framed in an oval
- Summer and destination weddings โ the day laid out with a doodle beside every moment, and the details guests need to travel
- Engagement parties โ your story as decks of photo cards
- Garden parties and summer celebrations โ Cabana is listed under the Party filter too
Whatever the occasion, the photos your guests take matter as much as the invitation. Guests can scan the event QR code and add their photos to the shared gallery. See how Fotify works for weddings.
For a garden-villa wedding pinned with wax seals, try Sealed. For one fine line in the colour you pick, try Thread.
Applying Cabana to your event
- Open your event, click Invitation in the sidebar, then the Invitation tab
- In Design Template, click Change template if the gallery is collapsed, and find Cabana under Designs (it is listed under the Wedding filter, and under Party too)
- Optional: press Try it on to see Cabana with your own invitation details in the live preview โ nothing is saved until you press Use this design
- Or click the Cabana card to apply it straight away
- Open Cabana options below the gallery to pick your colour and the other options described below. Changes save automatically
Cabana works on every plan. On free events a small "Made with Fotify" badge appears in the bottom corner of the invitation; any paid plan or an active subscription removes it.
Switching to another template later is non-destructive: your event content stays exactly as you entered it, and your Cabana options are kept in case you switch back.
Cabana options
Cabana has six options of its own. They take the place of the standard colour and font controls, which Cabana doesn't use.
1. Stripe colour
The colour of the stripes, your names, the headings, the doodles and the buttons. Pick it two ways:
- A suggested swatch โ French blue (default), Terracotta, Sage, Rose or Navy
- Pick any color โ the last chip opens your device's colour picker, so you can match your wedding colour exactly. The colour's code is shown beside the chips
Any colour works. The stripes carry cream lettering, so a light or bright colour is deepened into a richer shade of the same hue on the stripes; your names and headings use a shade that reads clearly on sand, on white and on the cream panels. A grey stays grey.
2. Cover
- Oval photo (default) โ your cover photo in a large oval, with two rings, a bell and a pair of clinking glasses drawn around it, and your names under it
- Full photo โ your cover photo across the whole screen, washing softly into the page colour at its foot, with your names over the wash
3. Little drawings
On by default: the rings, glasses and bell around the cover, a doodle beside every moment of your day, a few doodles over section titles (the venue, the gifts, the details and the calendar) and the glasses at the close. Turn it off for a plainer page; each moment of the day is then marked with a small diamond.
4. Warm sand page
On by default: the sections between the stripes sit on warm sand. Turn it off to set them on white.
5. Cover line
The small line under your names on the cover, between two diamond-tipped lines (up to 60 characters). Leave it blank to use the default ("Come celebrate with us"). Try "Together with their families" or "Are getting married".
6. Closing line
The line at the end of the page, above your names (up to 80 characters). Leave it blank to use the default ("We can't wait to celebrate with you").
Every piece of text Cabana prints on the invitation โ the cover line, the RSVP links, the section labels and titles, the countdown units, the closing line โ can also be rewritten directly on the page: switch the live preview into edit mode and double-click the text. Section titles you have already set in their own settings (story, countdown, gifts, where to stay, getting there, FAQs) are edited in place the same way.
How each section is treated
Cover
Your cover replaces the standard header (option 2):
- Your cover photo โ in an oval with the doodles around it, or across the whole screen washing into the page. It keeps the horizontal crop you set. Without a cover photo, the oval (or the screen) is filled with your stripes, and the oval holds a cream medallion with the couple doodle
- Your event name, set large in your colour. Long names step down a size so they never break mid-word
- The cover line (option 5) between two diamond-tipped lines
- The date and the time, then the place โ the time follows the Show time setting of your invitation's cover, the date and the place follow Show date and Show location, and every guest sees the date you picked, whatever their time zone
- RSVP โ a link set between two fine upright lines that scrolls to the RSVP form. It only appears when your RSVP section is visible, and never on a save-the-date page
Section heads
Each section opens centred: its label in small spaced capitals between two diamond-tipped lines, then its title in Afacad. On the stripes the head is in cream; on sand, on white and inside the cream panels it is in your colour.
Message โ the first panel
Your message, centred, on a cream panel with a bracket-shaped crown, standing on the stripes. A long message steps down a size and aligns to the start of the line. When your countdown comes right after the message (the usual order), the two panels join into one.
Countdown
On a cream panel with its crown at the foot: the countdown's label and title, then the numbers set large in your colour, each over its unit, divided by fine lines. It counts down to your event's date and time in the venue's time zone, and shows your completed message once the moment arrives.
Gallery (Carousel)
Your photos in a row over the stripes, each a tall print in a white border with softly rounded corners, stepping gently up and down. A few photos sit centred; more scroll sideways and snap print by print.
Story โ fanned decks
Every milestone is a white photo card โ its photo, its date as you entered it, its title and its text โ with two more cards fanned out behind it, their backs printed with faint stripes. The decks go down the page shifted a little to one side and then the other, each at its own slight slant. On browsers that support it, the back cards fan out as the deck scrolls into view. Every milestone is set the same way; one without a photo, a date or a text leaves that part out.
Location โ the venue
Centred on the plain ground, under the suitcase doodle: your address set large in your colour, your directions, a map of your venue in a sand frame when a map is available, and a View on map link set between two fine upright lines.
Itinerary โ the day on a panel
The itinerary's head stands on the stripes, and your day sits on a cream panel with a crown at both ends. Each moment is a row with a doodle at its start, the time in your colour, the title, the place and any note, divided by fine lines. The doodles are handed out in order down the day (glasses, cake, music, cocktail, camera, bell, suitcase, rings, couple, then round again) โ they decorate, they don't describe the moment. A day heading appears only when the day has a date or a label. Entry icons are not shown.
RSVP โ the reply card
"Will you join us?" stands on the stripes with your RSVP deadline in a cream pill under it, and the reply form sits on a cream panel with a crown at both ends, traced with a white line just outside its edge. On a save-the-date page the panel holds the save-the-date note instead of the form.
Gifts, Event Details and Save the Date
These three sections share their structure with Fotify's other picker-coloured designs (Meridian, Thread, Prism and Duotone), dressed in Cabana's style on the plain ground: white cards with a fine line in your colour, small spaced-capital labels, Afacad titles and buttons in your stripe colour.
- Gifts โ every registry, payment option, charity and wishlist item is its own card in a grid, grouped under small labels (with a count) when you offer more than one kind. Payment details sit in an inset box with a Copy button, and long account numbers wrap inside the card. Pay links, scan-to-pay QR codes and wishlist reservations appear as buttons on each card
- Event Details โ a card per topic: dress code with your suggested and avoided colours as swatches, where to stay with each hotel as a mini-card (distance, price range, promo code, notes and a Book button), getting there with an icon for each kind of transport, and a full-width FAQ card where each question opens on tap
- Save the Date (Calendar) โ one card with the title and the event date on one side, and Google, Apple (downloads the calendar file) and Outlook buttons on the other
Closing
The page closes on the plain ground: the clinking glasses, your closing line (option 6) in small spaced capitals, your event name in your colour, the date and place, a Send your reply link between two fine upright lines, and a last band of stripes.
Sections that use the shared layout
These sections keep Fotify's shared layout and are dressed in Cabana's style:
- Photo upload, QR code, Table assignment, Playlist, Sub-events, Special treatments and custom sections
Each sits in the same column as the rest of the page on a white card, with titles in Afacad in your colour and buttons in your stripe colour. Photos in custom sections are capped in height so a tall portrait never takes over the page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Which sections sit on the stripes? A: The message, the countdown, the gallery, the itinerary and the RSVP. They stay on the stripes wherever you move them in your section order; every other section sits on sand or on white (option 4).
Q: I picked a pale colour. Why are the stripes darker than my colour? A: The section titles on the stripes are cream, so a pale or bright colour is deepened into a richer shade of the same hue until they read clearly. Your names and headings on the plain ground use a shade that reads on sand, on white and on the cream panels.
Q: Why doesn't the doodle beside a moment match it? A: The doodles beside your day are handed out in order down the list, not chosen from what each moment says, so reordering or renaming a moment never leaves a doodle that contradicts it. Turn Little drawings off if you'd rather have small diamonds.
Q: I don't have a cover photo. Will the cover look empty? A: No. The oval (or, with Full photo, the whole screen) is filled with your stripes, and the oval holds a cream medallion with the couple doodle when the drawings are on.
Q: Does Cabana work in right-to-left languages? A: Yes. In Hebrew and Arabic the layout mirrors: the doodles around the cover swap sides, the story's decks shift and slant the other way, and each moment of the day has its doodle on the right. The stripes and the panels are symmetrical, and the cover photo's crop stays as you set it.
Q: Does the page move? A: Only gently: the sections rise into place as you scroll and, on browsers that support it, the cards behind each chapter of your story fan out as it comes into view. Guests whose device asks for reduced motion see a still page.
