Lago Template โ Complete Guide
Lago is a warm invitation for a wedding weekend by the water. It reads like a beautifully set wedding website: your names very large in a high-contrast serif beside a tall cover photo, a slim ticker of your names, date and place gliding under the cover, and the rest of the weekend laid out on oat, blush or ivory paper with terracotta accents.
Lago is one of Fotify's simpler designs: its look comes from one colour you choose โ any colour at all โ a paper tone and two small switches.
This guide covers how Lago looks, the options unique to it, how to apply it to your event, and how it lays out each section of your invitation.
Lago is available on every plan, Free included.
For an overview of the template gallery and the picker, see How to Customize Your RSVP Invitation.
What makes Lago different
Standard templates change colours and fonts over the same shared layout. Lago replaces the layout itself: its own cover, ticker and closing, its own section heads, and its own treatment of the message, countdown, gallery, story, itinerary, event details and reply.
Signature design elements
- A split cover โ your names stacked very large on one side with a short rule, the date and the place in spaced capitals and a pill button; your cover photo tall on the other side, with a fine botanical sprig crossing its lower corner
- A ticker band โ a slim band under the cover repeating your cover line, your names, the date and the place in small capitals, gliding slowly across the page
- The message as a quote โ your words set large in italics under a drawn quotation mark
- The weekend as a programme โ each moment on its own finely ruled row: day and time, what happens, where
- Photos on a line โ your gallery hangs from a thin string with tiny wooden pegs, each print tilted a little and swaying gently
- A near-black closing โ your names large in light lettering at the foot of the page
- Typography โ Old Standard TT, a high-contrast serif with ball terminals, for your names, the titles, the numbers and the quote; Kumbh Sans, a light geometric sans, for the reading text and the spaced capitals
- Always readable โ whatever colour you pick, even a pale yellow or a near-black, the text, the lines and the buttons are adjusted until they read clearly
When to choose Lago
Lago suits warm, relaxed weddings that span more than one moment:
- Lake, villa and countryside weddings โ a tall cover photo, a quiet paper palette and a sprig drawn in your colour
- Wedding weekends โ a welcome dinner, the ceremony and a farewell brunch read clearly as a programme, day by day
- Destination weddings โ the small print, travel details and the reply all sit within easy reach
- Engagement parties โ your story as photos beside their titles, and your favourite photos hanging on a line
Whatever the occasion, the photos your guests take matter as much as the invitation. Guests can scan the event QR code and add their photos to the shared gallery. See how Fotify works for weddings.
For a garden wedding pinned with wax seals, try Sealed. For one fine line in the colour you pick, try Thread.
Applying Lago to your event
- Open your event, click Invitation in the sidebar, then the Invitation tab
- In Design Template, click Change template if the gallery is collapsed, and find Lago under Designs (it is listed under the Wedding filter, and under Elegant too)
- Optional: press Try it on to see Lago with your own invitation details in the live preview โ nothing is saved until you press Use this design
- Or click the Lago card to apply it straight away
- Open Lago options below the gallery to pick your colour and the other options described below. Changes save automatically
Lago works on every plan. On free events a small "Made with Fotify" badge appears in the bottom corner of the invitation; any paid plan or an active subscription removes it.
Switching to another template later is non-destructive: your event content stays exactly as you entered it, and your Lago options are kept in case you switch back.
Lago options
Lago has six options of its own. They take the place of the standard colour and font controls, which Lago doesn't use.
1. Accent
The colour of the pill buttons, the small spaced capitals over every title, the dates of your story and the botanical sprig. Pick it two ways:
- A suggested swatch โ Terracotta (default), Olive, Navy, Plum or Rust
- Pick any color โ the last chip opens your device's colour picker, so you can match your wedding colour exactly. The colour's code is shown beside the chips
Any colour works: the shade is deepened where text or a line sits on the paper so everything stays readable, and a grey stays grey.
2. Paper
The paper the page is printed on:
- Oat (default) โ a warm, light beige
- Blush โ a soft pink
- Ivory โ a lighter, cooler cream
The ticker under the cover and the band behind the reply form follow the paper you pick.
3. Ticker under the cover
On by default. Turn it off for a quieter cover without the gliding band.
4. Botanical sprig
On by default: the fine line drawing of a leafy sprig crossing the corner of your cover photo, the reply card and the closing. Turn it off for a plainer page.
5. Cover line
The small line above your names on the cover, also repeated in the ticker (up to 60 characters). Leave it blank to use the default ("Save the date"). Try "We are getting married" or "Join us by the lake".
6. Closing line
The line above your names on the dark closing (up to 80 characters). Leave it blank to use the default ("We can't wait to celebrate with you").
Every piece of text Lago prints on the invitation โ the cover line, the reply buttons, the section labels and titles, the countdown units, the closing line โ can also be rewritten directly on the page: switch the live preview into edit mode and double-click the text. Section titles you have already set in their own settings (story, countdown, gifts, where to stay, getting there, FAQs) are edited in place the same way.
How each section is treated
Cover
Your cover replaces the standard header and is split in two on a computer (on a phone the words come first and the photo follows):
- The cover line (option 5) in small spaced capitals
- Your event name, stacked very large. Long names step down a size so they never break mid-word
- A short rule, then the date and the time and the place in spaced capitals โ the time follows the Show time setting of your invitation's cover, the date and the place follow Show date and Show location, and every guest sees the date you picked, whatever their time zone
- Kindly reply โ a pill button that scrolls to the RSVP form. It only appears when your RSVP section is visible, and never on a save-the-date page
- Your cover photo, tall, keeping the horizontal crop you set, with the botanical sprig (option 4) crossing its lower corner
Without a cover photo, the photo's place is taken by a blush panel with a large sprig.
Ticker
A slim band under the cover with your cover line, your names, the date and the place in small capitals, separated by dots and gliding slowly sideways. It shows the same date and place as the cover, so hiding them on the cover hides them here too. Guests whose device asks for reduced motion see it standing still.
Section heads
Each section opens on the start side: its label in small spaced capitals in your accent, then its title large in Old Standard TT.
Message โ the quote
Your message, centred and set large in italics under a drawn opening quotation mark in your accent. A long message switches to an upright reading size and aligns to the start of the line, so a letter never reads as one giant quote.
Countdown โ one ruled row
The days, hours, minutes (and seconds, if you show them) side by side between fine lines, each number large in Old Standard TT with its name in spaced capitals under it. It counts down to your event's date and time in the venue's time zone, and shows your completed message once the moment arrives.
Story โ photo and words
Each milestone is a spread: its photo tall on one side and, on the other, its date in spaced capitals, its title large and its text. The spreads alternate sides down the page; on a phone the photo comes first. Every milestone is set the same way; one without a photo, a date or a text leaves that part out.
Itinerary โ the programme
Your itinerary sits on a lighter band as a programme of finely ruled rows: the day (on the first row of each day) and the time, then the title with any note, then the place. On a phone each row stacks in that order. A day heading appears only when the day has a date or a label. Entry icons are not shown.
After the programme, your cover photo runs the full width of the page as a pause before the next section, keeping your horizontal crop. Without a cover photo there is no pause.
Gallery (Carousel) โ photos on a line
Your photos hang from a thin string across the page by tiny wooden pegs, four to a row on a computer and two on a phone, each print slightly tilted and swaying gently. Guests whose device asks for reduced motion see them still.
Event Details โ the small print
On a lighter band, the section's label and title sit on one side and your details are stacked on the other as clean ruled blocks: dress code with your suggested and avoided colours as swatches, where to stay with each hotel (distance, price range, promo code, notes and a Book button), getting there with each kind of transport, and your FAQ, where each question opens on tap. On a phone the title comes first.
RSVP โ the blush band
The reply sits on a blush band across the page: "Will you join us?" set very large with your RSVP deadline under it on one side, and the reply form on a light card on the other, with the botanical sprig crossing its top corner. On a save-the-date page the card holds the save-the-date note instead of the form.
Gifts, Location and Save the Date
These sections share their structure with Fotify's other picker-coloured designs (Meridian, Thread, Prism and Duotone), dressed in Lago's paper: light cards with square corners, spaced-capital labels in your accent, Old Standard TT titles and pill buttons.
- Gifts โ every registry, payment option, charity and wishlist item is its own card in a grid, grouped under small labels (with a count) when you offer more than one kind. Payment details sit in an inset box with a Copy button, and long account numbers wrap inside the card. Pay links, scan-to-pay QR codes and wishlist reservations appear as buttons on each card
- Location โ a map card beside your address and directions, with an Open in Maps button
- Save the Date (Calendar) โ one card with the title and the event date on one side, and Google, Apple (downloads the calendar file) and Outlook buttons on the other
Closing
The page closes on a warm near-black: the sprig, your closing line (option 6) in italics, your event name large in light lettering, the date and place in spaced capitals and a Send your reply button (only when your RSVP section is visible, and never on a save-the-date page).
Sections that use the shared layout
These sections keep Fotify's shared layout and are dressed in Lago's style:
- Photo upload, QR code, Table assignment, Playlist, Sub-events, Special treatments and custom sections
Each sits in the same column as the rest of the page on a light card, with titles in Old Standard TT and buttons in your accent. Photos in custom sections are capped in height so a tall portrait never takes over the page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why does my cover photo appear twice? A: Lago shows your cover photo on the cover and again across the full width of the page after your itinerary, as a pause between sections. Both keep the horizontal crop you set. Change or remove your cover photo in the invitation's cover settings and both change with it; hiding the itinerary hides the pause too.
Q: I don't have a cover photo. Will the cover look empty? A: No. Without a photo, its place on the cover is a blush panel with a large botanical sprig, and the pause after the itinerary is left out.
Q: Can I stop the ticker from moving? A: You can turn the ticker off in the Lago options. Guests whose device asks for reduced motion always see it standing still.
Q: I picked a very pale colour. Why do the buttons look darker? A: A very pale colour would vanish on the paper, so Lago deepens it in its own hue until the labels, lines and buttons read clearly. A pale yellow becomes an olive gold; a grey stays grey.
Q: Does Lago work in right-to-left languages? A: Yes. In Hebrew and Arabic the layout mirrors: the words and the photo on the cover swap sides, the ticker glides the other way, the story's spreads and the programme's columns swap sides and the sprig is drawn from the other corner. The cover photo's crop stays as you set it.
Q: Does the page move? A: Only gently: the ticker glides under the cover and the photos on the line sway. Guests whose device asks for reduced motion see a still page.
