Lilac Template โ€” Complete Guide

Lilac is a soft garden wedding page in white and one pastel colour. Your cover photo stands in a tall, round-topped arch in front of a wooden garden arch, and your names are written in a flowing script on a big half circle of colour beside it. Painted roses gather in the corners of the page, the countdown sits in four round circles each wreathed with roses, and the reply form waits in a tall arch beside a bunch of roses.

Lilac is one of Fotify's simpler designs: its look comes from one soft colour you choose โ€” any colour at all โ€” and the roses are painted in shades of it.

This guide covers how Lilac looks, the options unique to it, how to apply it to your event, and how it lays out each section of your invitation.

Lilac is available on every plan, Free included.

For an overview of the template gallery and the picker, see How to Customize Your RSVP Invitation.

What makes Lilac different

Standard templates change colours and fonts over the same shared layout. Lilac replaces the layout itself: its own cover and closing, its own section heads, and its own treatment of the message, countdown, gallery, story, day and reply.

Signature design elements

  • An arched cover โ€” your cover photo in a tall arch with a white rim, standing in front of a warm wooden garden arch, beside a big half circle of your colour that holds your names, your cover line and the date in spaced numerals ("12 . 12 . 2026")
  • Painted roses โ€” layered petals in shades of your colour with soft green leaves, gathered in the corners of the sections, in a garland across the foot of the cover and around the countdown. You choose how many
  • One soft colour โ€” pick it from the suggested colours or from the colour picker. Lilac keeps it soft where it is a background and deepens it where it is text or a button
  • A flowing script โ€” your names, the small label over every title, the story titles, the countdown numbers and the times of the day are written in Ephesis, a light script; everything you read is set in Zen Maru Gothic, a soft rounded sans
  • Arches everywhere โ€” the cover photo, the gallery frames, the day's programme and the reply form all sit in round-topped arches
  • Always readable โ€” whatever colour you pick, even a pale yellow or a near-black, the text and the buttons are adjusted until they read clearly

When to choose Lilac

Lilac suits celebrations that want to feel romantic, soft and floral:

  • Weddings โ€” above all garden, spring and summer weddings, with your photo under the arch and your story as notes beside your photos
  • Engagements and vow renewals โ€” a gentle page in your own colour
  • Garden birthdays and parties โ€” rewrite the cover line and the section labels, and pick a blush, peach or powder-blue colour
  • Bridal showers and garden tea parties โ€” the roses and the soft colour suit an afternoon in the garden

Whatever the occasion, the photos your guests take matter as much as the invitation. Guests can scan the event QR code and add their photos to the shared gallery. See how Fotify works for weddings.

Applying Lilac to your event

  1. Open your event, click Invitation in the sidebar, then the Invitation tab
  2. In Design Template, click Change template if the gallery is collapsed, and find Lilac under Designs (it is listed under the Wedding filter, and under Birthday and Party too)
  3. Optional: press Try it on to see Lilac with your own invitation details in the live preview โ€” nothing is saved until you press Use this design
  4. Or click the Lilac card to apply it straight away
  5. Open Lilac options below the gallery to pick your colour and the other options described below. Changes save automatically

Lilac works on every plan. On free events a small "Made with Fotify" badge appears in the bottom corner of the invitation; any paid plan or an active subscription removes it.

Switching to another template later is non-destructive: your event content stays exactly as you entered it, and your Lilac options are kept in case you switch back.

Lilac options

Lilac has four options of its own. They take the place of the standard colour and font controls, which Lilac doesn't use.

1. Colour

The soft colour of the page. Pick it two ways:

  • A suggested swatch โ€” Lilac (default), Blush, Powder blue, Sage or Peach
  • Pick any color โ€” the last chip opens your device's colour picker, so you can match your flowers or your wedding colours exactly. The colour's code is shown beside the chips

Any colour works. Lilac uses a pale shade of it for the half circle behind your names, the countdown circles and the arch around your programme, a deeper shade for the reply arch, and shades from pale to deep for the petals of the roses. The date on the cover, the story dates and the buttons use a deep shade of the same colour so they stay readable. The script lettering is a soft leaf green, the colour of the painted leaves, whatever colour you pick. A grey gives silver roses.

2. Wooden arch

On by default: your cover photo stands in front of a warm wooden garden arch. Turn it off for a plainer cover, with the photo arch a little larger.

3. Roses

  • Full (default) โ€” roses in the corners of the message, story and programme sections and at the close, a garland across the foot of the cover, a small cluster on every countdown circle and a tall bunch beside the reply form
  • Light โ€” no corner roses: only the cover garland, the countdown clusters, the bunch beside the reply form and the garland at the close
  • None โ€” no roses at all, for a calmer page

4. Cover line

The line under your names on the cover, before the date (up to 80 characters). Leave it blank to use the default ("Join us to celebrate"). Try "We're getting married" or "Together with their families".

Every piece of text Lilac prints on the invitation โ€” the cover line, the Kindly reply and Reply now buttons, the section labels and titles, the countdown units, the closing line โ€” can also be rewritten directly on the page: switch the live preview into edit mode and double-click the text. Section titles you have already set in their own settings (story, countdown, gifts, where to stay, getting there, FAQs) are edited in place the same way.

How each section is treated

Cover

Lilac's cover replaces the standard header. On a wide screen it is split in two; on a phone the two halves stack:

  • Your cover photo in a tall, round-topped arch with a white rim, keeping the horizontal crop you set, in front of the wooden arch (option 2). Without a cover photo the arch is filled with your pale colour and a bunch of roses
  • A big half circle of your colour beside it (on a phone, a dome under the photo) holding your event name in the flowing script, the cover line (option 4), the date in spaced numerals in the order of your date format, and the time and place โ€” the time follows the Show time setting of your invitation's cover, the date and the place follow Show date and Show location, and every guest sees the date you picked, whatever their time zone
  • A Kindly reply button that scrolls to the RSVP form. It only appears when your RSVP section is visible, and never on a save-the-date page
  • A garland of roses across the foot of the cover (unless roses are off)

Your names are printed exactly as you typed the event name. Long names step down a size so they never break mid-word.

Section heads

Each section opens centred: a small label written in the script, then its title in the rounded sans and, for the story and gifts, your subtitle or gift message.

Message โ€” a note from you

No card: the title written in the script over your message, centred at reading size, with a small scroll underneath and roses in the corners. A long message aligns to the start of the line.

Countdown โ€” four circles

Each unit โ€” days, hours, minutes and, if you show them, seconds โ€” sits in a round circle of your pale colour with a soft second rim, the number written in the script and the unit underneath. A small cluster of roses sits on the edge of each circle. It counts down to your event's date and time in the venue's time zone, and shows your completed message once the moment arrives.

Gallery (Carousel) โ€” arches and frames

Every photo in a white frame with a soft shadow, laid out like a garden wall: round-topped arches and rounded frames in turn, three across on a wide screen with the middle column standing a little lower, two across on a phone. A single photo stands alone in the middle.

Story โ€” notes held by a paper clip

Each milestone is a note card of white paper, tilted a few degrees and held by a paper clip, with its title in the script between two small scrolls, its date and its text. When the milestone has a photo, the photo sits beside the note in a white print tilted the other way, the note overlapping it. The pairs alternate sides down the page; on a phone each photo sits above its note. A milestone without a photo is its note alone, centred.

Itinerary โ€” the day in an arch

Your day sits inside a tall arch with a thick rim of your pale colour. Every moment is a row across a fine centre line: on one side a small line drawing, the moment, its place and any note; on the line a small heart; on the other side the time written in the script. The drawings (a glass, rings, a camera, a plate, a cake, music notes, two glasses, a moon) are handed out in order down the list โ€” they decorate the rows rather than describe them, and your entry icons are not shown. Each day's heading (only when the day has a date or a label) sits over its moments.

RSVP โ€” a tall arch

The reply form sits directly on a tall arch of your colour, under a small script label, the title and your RSVP deadline, with white fields. On a wide screen a tall bunch of roses stands beside it (without roses the arch stands alone in the middle). On a save-the-date page the arch holds the save-the-date note instead of the form.

Gifts, Event Details, Location and Save the Date

These share their structure with Fotify's other picker-coloured designs, dressed in Lilac's soft rounded cards:

  • Gifts โ€” every registry, payment option, charity and wishlist item on its own card, grouped under small labels when you offer more than one kind. Payment details sit in an inset box with a Copy button; pay links, scan-to-pay QR codes and wishlist reservations appear as buttons on each card
  • Event Details โ€” a card per topic: the dress code with your suggested and avoided colours as swatches, where to stay and getting there as small cards (with a Book button where you added a link), and the FAQ as questions that open on tap
  • Location โ€” a map card beside an address card with your address, your directions and an Open in Maps button. When a map can't be shown, the map card draws a pin with the venue's coordinates; without coordinates the address card spans the row
  • Save the Date (Calendar) โ€” one card of your pale colour with the title, the event date and Google, Apple (downloads the calendar file) and Outlook buttons

Closing

Your closing line written large in the script (rewrite it in edit mode), the date and place, a Reply now button and a last garland of roses.

Sections that use the shared layout

These sections keep Fotify's shared layout and are dressed in Lilac's style:

  • Photo upload, QR code, Table assignment, Playlist, Sub-events, Special treatments and custom sections

Each sits in the same column as the rest of the page on a soft rounded card, with titles in the rounded sans and buttons in your colour. Photos in custom sections are capped in height so a tall portrait never takes over the page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where do the names on the cover come from? A: From your event name, exactly as you typed it. Lilac never splits or rewrites it, so write it the way you want it shown, for example "Ana & Leo".

Q: Why is my cover date shown as numbers? A: Lilac sets the date in spaced numerals, in the order of the date format you chose for your invitation (day first, month first or year first). Elsewhere on the page the date follows your date format.

Q: I picked a light colour. Why are the buttons darker than the colour I chose? A: The backgrounds keep your colour soft, but text and buttons use a deeper shade of the same colour so they stay readable. The roses are painted in shades from very pale to deep.

Q: Can I use Lilac for something other than a wedding? A: Yes. Rewrite the Cover line, and the section labels and titles in edit mode. A blush, peach or powder-blue colour suits a garden birthday, a bridal shower or a summer party.

Q: Does the line drawing next to each moment of my day match the moment? A: No โ€” the drawings are decoration, handed out in order down the list, so a row may show a glass or a cake whatever it is. Your entry icons are not shown in Lilac.

Q: Does Lilac work in right-to-left languages? A: Yes. In Hebrew and Arabic the layout mirrors: the cover's half circle moves to the other side, the roses and the tilted notes mirror, and the times of the day move to the left of the line. The cover photo's crop stays as you set it.

Q: Does the page move? A: Only gently: on browsers that support it, the story's notes and photos drift into place as you scroll. Guests whose device asks for reduced motion see a still page.
