Siena Template โ€” Complete Guide

Siena is an invitation for a wedding in the Italian countryside, printed like a set of black-and-white film photographs on cream stock. Your cover photo fills the screen in black and white with your names written across it in a flowing script, and deep bands of colour run across the page between the cream sections.

Siena is one of Fotify's simpler designs: its look comes from one band colour you choose โ€” any colour at all โ€” a small painted tile and your own photos.

This guide covers how Siena looks, the options unique to it, how to apply it to your event, and how it lays out each section of your invitation.

Siena is available on every plan, Free included.

For an overview of the template gallery and the picker, see How to Customize Your RSVP Invitation.

What makes Siena different

Standard templates change colours and fonts over the same shared layout. Siena replaces the layout itself: its own cover and closing, its own section heads, and its own treatment of the message, countdown, gallery, story, itinerary, location and reply card.

Signature design elements

  • Black-and-white film โ€” every photo you add to the invitation (cover, gallery, story, location, your other events and the photos in your custom sections) is shown in black and white with a soft film grain; photos your guests upload keep their colours. One option keeps yours in colour
  • Your names in a script โ€” the event name is written in Corinthia, a fine flowing script, on the cover, under your story and in the closing band
  • Deep bands โ€” your message, your gallery and the closing sit on full-width bands in the colour you pick, lettered in cream
  • One tall word โ€” on the message band a single word, "Celebrate" unless you change it, runs up one edge of the band and down the other, with your message between them
  • A painted tile โ€” a small hand-painted maiolica tile (a sun, a lemon or a flower in terracotta, ochre and cobalt) sits above every section title, on the reply card and at the close
  • Thin capitals โ€” Bellefair, a thin high-contrast serif, for the titles, the countdown numbers and the times of the day, with Poppins for the reading text
  • Always readable โ€” whatever colour you pick, even a pale yellow, the band is kept deep enough for its cream lettering, and the text and buttons on the cream are adjusted until they read clearly

When to choose Siena

Siena suits romantic, unhurried celebrations:

  • Destination and countryside weddings โ€” a villa, a vineyard, a farmhouse or a hill town
  • Elopements and intimate weddings โ€” black-and-white photos and one tall word say a lot with little
  • Engagement parties and rehearsal dinners โ€” your story as a collage of photos around your names
  • Anniversaries and vow renewals โ€” your photos from the years, all printed the same way

Whatever the occasion, the photos your guests take matter as much as the invitation. Guests can scan the event QR code and add their photos to the shared gallery. See how Fotify works for weddings.

For a sunny coastal page with lemons and striped awnings, try Amalfi. For a quiet black-and-white page set like a magazine, try Linen.

Applying Siena to your event

  1. Open your event, click Invitation in the sidebar, then the Invitation tab
  2. In Design Template, click Change template if the gallery is collapsed, and find Siena under Designs (it is listed under the Wedding filter, and under Elegant and Minimal too)
  3. Optional: press Try it on to see Siena with your own invitation details in the live preview โ€” nothing is saved until you press Use this design
  4. Or click the Siena card to apply it straight away
  5. Open Siena options below the gallery to pick your band colour and the other options described below. Changes save automatically

Siena works on every plan. On free events a small "Made with Fotify" badge appears in the bottom corner of the invitation; any paid plan or an active subscription removes it.

Switching to another template later is non-destructive: your event content stays exactly as you entered it, and your Siena options are kept in case you switch back.

Siena options

Siena has five options of its own. They take the place of the standard colour and font controls, which Siena doesn't use.

1. Band colour

The colour of the deep bands โ€” the message, the gallery, the cover when you have no photo, the closing โ€” and of the buttons. Pick it two ways:

  • A suggested swatch โ€” Cocoa (default), Olive, Navy, Oxblood or Charcoal
  • Pick any color โ€” the last chip opens your device's colour picker, so you can match your wedding colours exactly. The colour's code is shown beside the chips

Any colour works. Siena keeps the band deep so its cream lettering always reads: a deep colour stays as you picked it, and a light one (a pale yellow, a pastel) becomes a deeper shade of the same colour. A grey stays grey.

2. Painted tile

The small hand-painted tile set above every section title, on the reply card and at the close:

  • Sun (default) โ€” a terracotta and ochre sun
  • Lemon โ€” a lemon on its branch with two leaves
  • Flower โ€” a cobalt flower with a terracotta heart

The tile's own colours never change with the band colour.

3. Black and white photos

On by default: every photo you add is shown in black and white with a soft film grain (photos your guests upload keep their colours). Turn it off to keep your photos in colour (the grain stays). Your photos themselves are never changed โ€” only the way the invitation shows them โ€” and the crop you set for your cover photo is kept.

4. Cover line

The small line under your names on the cover (up to 80 characters). Leave it blank to use the default ("Invite you to celebrate with them"). Try "Are getting married in Tuscany" or "Invite you to their wedding".

5. Closing line

The line in the closing band at the end of the page (up to 80 characters). Leave it blank to use the default ("Thank you for being part of our day").

Every piece of text Siena prints on the invitation โ€” the cover line, the Join us and Reply buttons, the tall word on the message band and the sign-off under your message, the section titles and the small script lines under them, the countdown units, the closing line โ€” can also be rewritten directly on the page: switch the live preview into edit mode and double-click the text. Section titles you have already set in their own settings (story, countdown, gifts, where to stay, getting there, FAQs) are edited in place the same way.

How each section is treated

Cover

Your cover photo replaces the standard header, full-bleed, in black and white with a soft film grain, keeping the horizontal crop you set. It settles slowly into place as the page opens. At its foot, over a soft shadow:

  • Your event name in the flowing script. Long names step down a size so they never break mid-word
  • The cover line (option 4)
  • The date and the time in thin spaced capitals, and the place under them โ€” the time follows the Show time setting of your invitation's cover, the date and the place follow Show date and Show location, and every guest sees the date you picked, whatever their time zone
  • Join us โ€” a light outline button in the top corner that scrolls to the RSVP form. It only appears when your RSVP section is visible, and never on a save-the-date page

Without a cover photo, the cover is a deep band in your colour with the painted tile above your names.

Section heads

Each section opens centred: the painted tile, the title in thin spaced capitals, a short line written under it in the script and, for the story and gifts, your subtitle or gift message.

Message โ€” the band with the tall word

Your message sits on a full-width band in your colour, under the painted tile, in cream, with a sign-off ("With all our love") written in the script underneath. One tall word โ€” "Celebrate" unless you change it โ€” runs up one edge of the band and down the other. The band grows tall enough for the word; keep it to one short word (up to 16 characters). On browsers that support it, the two words drift gently in opposite directions as you scroll past.

Countdown

Large numbers in the thin serif, set wide apart on the cream, with each unit's name in tiny spaced capitals underneath. It counts down to your event's date and time in the venue's time zone, and shows your completed message once the moment arrives.

Gallery (Carousel)

Your photos as a reel of film prints on a band in your colour: tall, wide and square prints in turn, in black and white, in a row that scrolls sideways and stops on each print. A few photos sit centred; more run off the edge of the band so guests can scroll through them.

Story โ€” the collage

Your story's title, your subtitle and, as a signature, your event name in the script sit in the middle of the page, with your milestones scattered around them as prints of different sizes โ€” the first half above, the rest below. A couple of prints are softly out of focus, like a moving shot, and sharpen when a guest lingers on them. Every milestone is a print of the same kind: its photo, its date, its title and its text; one without a photo or a date leaves that part out. The layout is fixed, so every guest sees the same collage.

Location โ€” two rows

The venue and the way there, in two rows that alternate sides:

  • The venue โ€” your cover photo beside the painted tile, your address and a View on map button. Without a cover photo, the picture is a band in your colour with a large tile
  • Getting there โ€” when you've written directions: the map of the venue when it can be shown (otherwise the band with a large tile and the venue's coordinates) beside your directions

Itinerary โ€” the order of the day

Your day on the cream, ruled in fine lines like a printed programme: each day's date or label in small spaced capitals (a day heading appears only when the day has a date or a label), then one row per entry with its time in the thin serif, the moment in thin capitals, and the place and any note beneath. Entry icons are not shown.

RSVP โ€” the reply card

"Will you join us?" with your RSVP deadline under it, and the reply form on a cream card framed by a fine line in your band colour, with the painted tile seated on its top edge. On a save-the-date page the card holds the save-the-date note instead of the form.

Gifts, Event Details and Save the Date

These three sections share their structure with Fotify's other picker-coloured designs (Meridian, Thread, Prism and Duotone), dressed in Siena's cream and thin capitals: square cards with a fine border, titles in Bellefair and buttons in your band colour.

  • Gifts โ€” every registry, payment option, charity and wishlist item is its own card in a grid, grouped under small labels (with a count) when you offer more than one kind. Payment details sit in an inset box with a Copy button, and long account numbers wrap inside the card. Pay links, scan-to-pay QR codes and wishlist reservations appear as buttons on each card
  • Event Details โ€” a card per topic: dress code with your suggested and avoided colours as swatches, where to stay with each hotel as a mini-card (distance, price range, promo code, notes and a Book button), getting there with an icon for each kind of transport, and a full-width FAQ card where each question opens on tap
  • Save the Date (Calendar) โ€” one card with the title and the event date on one side, and Google, Apple (downloads the calendar file) and Outlook buttons on the other

Closing

A band in your colour: your event name in the script, your closing line (option 5) in thin capitals, the date and place, a Reply button, and a list of the sections on your page that takes guests straight to each one. The painted tile closes the page.

Sections that use the shared layout

These sections keep Fotify's shared layout and are dressed in Siena's style:

  • Photo upload, QR code, Table assignment, Playlist, Sub-events, Special treatments and custom sections

Each sits in the same column as the rest of the page on a cream card, with titles in Bellefair and buttons in your band colour. Photos in custom sections and the cover photos of your other events are shown in black and white too (unless you turned that option off); custom-section photos are capped in height so a tall portrait never takes over the page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I keep my photos in colour? A: Yes. Turn off Black and white photos in Siena options. The photos keep a soft film grain, and everything else stays the same.

Q: Does Siena change my photos? A: No. The black and white is only how the invitation shows them; the photos you uploaded stay exactly as they are, and the crop you set for your cover photo is kept.

Q: How do I change the word on the message band? A: Switch the live preview into edit mode and double-click the word. Keep it to one short word (up to 16 characters), like "Amore", "Forever" or "Together": it runs down both edges of the band, and the band grows to fit it.

Q: Where do the names in the script come from? A: From your event name, exactly as you typed it โ€” on the cover, as the signature under your story and in the closing band. Siena never splits or shortens it.

Q: I picked a light colour. Why are the bands darker? A: The bands carry cream lettering, so Siena keeps them deep: a light colour becomes a deeper shade of the same colour, so the message, the gallery titles and the closing stay readable.

Q: Why does my cover photo also appear in the location section? A: The venue row shows the event's own picture โ€” your cover photo โ€” beside the address. Change the cover photo in your invitation's cover settings and the venue row follows. Without a cover photo it shows a band with the painted tile instead.

Q: Does Siena work in right-to-left languages? A: Yes. In Hebrew and Arabic the layout mirrors: the Join us button moves to the other corner, the location rows swap sides and the closing list moves to the left. The tall word still runs up one edge and down the other.

Q: Does the page move? A: Only gently: the cover photo settles and your names rise into place as the page opens, and on browsers that support it the tall words and the story prints drift a little as you scroll. Guests whose device asks for reduced motion see a still page.
