Terrazzo Template — Complete Guide

Terrazzo sets your invitation in polished stone. The page is a terrazzo floor: a smooth ground scattered with small stone chips in a colour you pick, and every section rests on it as a polished slab. Your cover photo sits in a tall arch window cut into the cover slab, your event name is set in a fine, high-contrast serif, and thin brass lines are inlaid through the page.

Terrazzo is one of Fotify's simpler designs: its look comes from one colour you choose — any colour at all — the ground it is set in, and a calm, architectural layout.

This guide covers how Terrazzo looks, the options unique to it, how to apply it to your event, and how it lays out each section of your invitation.

Terrazzo is available on every plan, Free included.

For an overview of the template gallery and the picker, see How to Customize Your RSVP Invitation.

What makes Terrazzo different

Standard templates change colours and fonts over the same shared layout. Terrazzo replaces the layout itself: its own cover and closing, its own section heads, and its own treatment of the message, countdown, gallery, story and schedule.

Signature design elements

  • A speckled stone ground — small, irregular stone chips in three tones of your colour (the stone itself, a paler tint and a neutral aggregate) scattered across the page, fine or bold, or no chips at all for plain stone
  • One colour, any colour — pick the stone colour from the suggested swatches or from the colour picker. It colours the chips, the buttons and the small labels
  • An arch window — your cover photo framed in a tall arch (or a circle, or a plain slab) cut into a polished stone slab, outlined by a fine brass line
  • Polished slabs — every section sits on a smooth slab with a soft highlight along its top edge and a gentle shadow, floating on the speckled ground
  • Brass inlay — thin brass lines with a small lozenge under the event name, in the story and between the entries of your schedule
  • Three grounds — warm white marble, sand, or a dark slate
  • Two typefaces — Cormorant Garamond, a fine classic serif, or Fraunces, a softer modern serif, for the event name and titles; Jost, a clean sans, for everything else, with labels set in widely spaced capitals
  • Always readable — the chips are held close to the ground's own shade, so a word that lands on a chip stays as readable as one on the bare stone. Body text reaches the highest contrast level (WCAG AAA) on every ground, and whatever colour you pick, Terrazzo adjusts its shade for buttons and labels only as far as legibility needs
  • Gentle motion — the cover rises softly into place and the cover photo settles in its window. Guests who prefer reduced motion see everything still

When to choose Terrazzo

Terrazzo suits events that want to feel calm, considered and elegant without florals:

  • Modern and minimalist weddings — terracotta, sage or rose chips on marble with the Classic serif, your engagement photo under the arch. See weddings
  • Galas, award evenings and dinners — the Slate ground with ochre or charcoal chips makes a quietly dramatic evening page
  • Gallery openings, design launches and architecture events — Bold chips and the Slab window give a confident, material look
  • Corporate dinners and client evenings — pick your brand colour for the chips and buttons; the clear schedule and practical sections do the rest. See corporate events
  • Engagement parties, anniversaries and milestone birthdays — anywhere a timeless, architectural feel fits better than a theme

If you want soft gradient light and frosted cards in your colour, try Prism. For one line in your colour running down a centred page, try Thread. For a split-screen poster in your brand colour, try Meridian.

Applying Terrazzo to your event

  1. Open your event, click Invitation in the sidebar, then the Invitation tab
  2. In Design Template, click Change template if the gallery is collapsed, and find Terrazzo under Designs (it is listed under the Minimal, Elegant, Wedding and Corporate filters)
  3. Optional: press Try it on to see Terrazzo with your own invitation details in the live preview — nothing is saved until you press Use this design
  4. Or click the Terrazzo card to apply it straight away
  5. Open Terrazzo options below the gallery to pick your stone colour and the other options described below. Changes save automatically

Terrazzo works on every plan. On free events a small "Made with Fotify" badge appears in the bottom corner of the invitation; any paid plan or an active subscription removes it.

Switching to another template later is non-destructive: your event content stays exactly as you entered it, and your Terrazzo options are kept in case you switch back.

Terrazzo options

Terrazzo has seven options of its own. They take the place of the standard colour and font controls, which Terrazzo doesn't use.

1. Stone colour

The colour of the stone chips, the buttons and the small labels. Pick it two ways:

  • A suggested swatch — Terracotta (default), Sage, Ocean, Ochre, Rose or Charcoal
  • Pick any color — the last chip opens your device's colour picker, so you can use your brand colour or your wedding colour exactly. The colour's code is shown beside the chips

Any colour works. The chips are kept soft against the ground (a very bright or very dark pick is toned toward the stone around it), and the buttons and labels use the closest shade of your colour that stays clearly readable.

2. Ground

The stone the chips are set in:

  • Marble (default) — a warm white
  • Sand — a soft, warm beige
  • Slate — a dark grey stone; the text turns a warm white and the brass lines brighten

3. Chips

  • Fine (default) — a close speckle of small chips
  • Bold — larger flakes scattered over a fine grit
  • None — plain polished stone. The countdown tiles and an empty photo window keep a fine speckle so they still read as stone

4. Photo window

The shape your cover photo is set in:

  • Arch (default) — a tall arch with a rounded top
  • Circle — a round window
  • Slab — a plain upright rectangle with softened corners

5. Typeface

The face of the event name, the section titles, the message and the numbers. Labels, buttons and reading text are always set in Jost.

  • Classic serif (default) — Cormorant Garamond, fine and high-contrast, for weddings and galas
  • Modern serif — Fraunces, softer and rounder; set slightly smaller, as it reads larger

6. Cover label

The small line above the event name on the cover (up to 60 characters). Leave it blank to use the default ("You're invited"). Try "Together with their families", "Save the date" or "Please join us".

7. Closing title

The line set at the end of the page (up to 80 characters). Leave it blank to use the default ("With love, see you there"). Try "Until June", "See you in Lisbon" or "With gratitude".

Every piece of text Terrazzo shows on the invitation — the cover label, the Date, Time and Place labels, the Kindly reply buttons, the section labels and titles, the countdown units, the closing title — can also be rewritten directly on the page: switch the live preview into edit mode and double-click the text. Section titles you have already set in their own settings (story, countdown, gifts, where to stay, getting there, FAQs) are edited in place the same way.

How each section is treated

Cover

A polished stone slab replaces the standard header, holding:

  • Your cover photo in the window you chose (option 4), outlined by a brass line, keeping the horizontal crop you set. Without a cover photo, the window shows a patch of denser terrazzo in your colours
  • Cover label (option 6) in spaced capitals, after a small cluster of stone chips
  • Your event name in your chosen serif, set large. Long names step down a size so they never break mid-word
  • A brass inlay line
  • Date, Time and Place — the time follows the Show time setting of your invitation's cover, and every guest sees the date you picked, whatever their time zone. The date and location follow the cover's Show date and Show location settings
  • Kindly reply — a button in your colour that scrolls to the RSVP form. It only appears when your RSVP section is visible, and never on a save-the-date page

On phones the window sits above the text, centred. From 860 pixels wide the window and the text sit side by side.

Section heads

Each section opens with a small cluster of stone chips and its label in spaced capitals, then the title centred in your serif and, for the story and gifts, your subtitle or gift message.

Message

Your invitation message on one slab, set in your serif and centred. A long letter steps down to a comfortable reading size in Jost.

Countdown

One arch-topped stone tile per unit — days, hours, minutes and (if you switch them on) seconds — speckled like the floor, with the number in your serif and the unit beneath. Two tiles per row on a phone, all in one row on wider screens. When the countdown ends, your completion message appears in their place.

Gallery (Carousel)

Your photos mounted on small slabs in columns that keep each photo's own shape — two columns on a phone, three on wider screens (two for two or four photos).

Story

Each milestone is a row: its photo cropped to an arch beside a slab with the date, the title, a short brass line and the description. From 760 pixels wide the photos alternate sides down the page. Every milestone is laid out the same way; one without a photo is a slab on its own. Your story subtitle appears under the section title.

Itinerary

One slab per day, the date in spaced capitals at the top. Each entry is a row with its time in your serif in its own column, then the event, the place with a pin and any note; entries are divided by inlaid brass lines with a small lozenge where each line begins.

Location, Gifts, Event Details, Save the Date and RSVP

These five sections share their structure with Fotify's other picker-coloured designs (Meridian, Thread, Prism and Duotone), set in Terrazzo's stone: cards are polished slabs with rounded corners, and buttons are pills in your colour with spaced capital labels.

  • Location — a map card beside an address card with your address, your directions and an Open in Maps button. When a map can't be shown, the map card draws a pin with the venue's coordinates; without coordinates the address card spans the row
  • Gifts — every registry, payment option, charity and wishlist item is its own card in a grid, grouped under small labels (with a count) when you offer more than one kind. Payment details sit in an inset box with a Copy button, and long account numbers or wallet addresses wrap inside the card. Pay links, scan-to-pay QR codes and wishlist reservations appear as buttons on each card
  • Event Details — a card per topic: dress code with your suggested and avoided colours as swatches (in their real colours), where to stay with each hotel as a mini-card (distance, price range, promo code, notes and a Book button), getting there with an icon for each kind of transport, and a full-width FAQ card where each question opens on tap
  • Save the Date (Calendar) — one card with the title and the event date on one side, and Google, Apple (downloads the calendar file) and Outlook buttons on the other
  • RSVP — the title with your RSVP deadline under it, and the reply form on a slab with a brass line inlaid along its top: the attend / decline choices as two selectable boxes and a send button in your colour. On a save-the-date page, the card holds the save-the-date note instead of the form

Closing

A last slab with a cluster of stone chips, your closing title (option 7) in your serif, a brass line, the date and place, and a final Kindly reply button.

Sections that use the shared layout

These sections keep Fotify's shared layout and are set in Terrazzo's style:

  • Photo upload, QR code, Table assignment, Playlist, Sub-events, Special treatments and custom sections

Each sits in the same column as the rest of the page on a polished slab, with titles in your chosen serif and pill buttons in your colour. Table numbers appear as chips in your colour, and photos in custom sections are capped in height so a tall portrait never takes over the page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use my brand colour or my wedding colour? A: Yes. Pick it with Pick any color in the Stone colour option. If your colour is too light or too dark to read well as a button or a label, Terrazzo uses a slightly deeper or lighter shade of it, keeping the hue.

Q: The chips look softer than the colour I picked. Why? A: The chips are kept close to the ground's own shade on purpose, so any text that sits over them stays clearly readable. The buttons and small labels show your colour at full strength.

Q: Will the speckle make the text hard to read? A: No. Text either sits on a plain slab or, for section titles and labels, directly on the stone, and Terrazzo measures it against the ground and every chip tone, so it stays readable wherever a chip falls.

Q: I don't have a cover photo. Will the cover look empty? A: No. Without a photo, the window shows a patch of denser terrazzo in your colours, so the cover keeps its shape.

Q: Does Terrazzo work in right-to-left languages? A: Yes. In Hebrew and Arabic the layout mirrors: the cover window and text swap sides, the story photos alternate the other way and the itinerary's time column moves to the right. The cover photo's crop stays as it is.

Q: Can I use custom RSVP fields with Terrazzo? A: Yes. Custom fields (dropdowns, dates, checkboxes, file uploads and so on) pick up Terrazzo's fields and labels automatically.
